Adieu to Serrault, Bergman, Antonioni
These have been tough days for cinema lovers, French actor Michel Serrault, Swedish director Ingmar Bergman and Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni have passed away. I deeply admired all of them: Bergman and Antonioni became part of my personal growth and Serrault (which contributed for a half to my nickname) gave me some of the deepest emotions with his performances.
Here are some videos to remember them: From Antonioni's Blow up: The tennis game Bergman's Cries and whispers - Final scene Serrault in Nelly et Mr Arnaud: Romy |
I'm glad somebody posted re: this on these boards. Thank you so much. Antonioni can honestly be attributed with changing the way we see the world. . . whether we are conscious of it or not. His greatest film is "L'Avventura" (my second favorite, by the way, is L'Amiche and I recommend everyone seek that out).
There's a great moment in L'Avventura where the missing girl's room is searched. Two books are found: 1. The Bible 2. Tender Is The Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald (my favorite novel) I've always thought if the movie had been made after 1977, they would have found Rumours too. . . |
Thanks, they'll be missed for sure....although their work will stay forever. And thanks soooo much for that tennisscene. I almost had forgotten it. Brilliant!
