Gordon Brown

So we have a new PM over in the U.K and he's already had some difficul situations pop up. To my English friends, what can we expect from Mr. Brown. All I really know about him is he's labor.

David,

I think the deafening silence probably answers your question :D

He was a very good Chancellor (in the UK that's the person who makes the economic decisions) there's no doubt he is an effective economist. He hasn't the charisma Blair had in his early years, that’s for sure. He is probably closer to the EU than the US in many respects and I suspect he will not be as supportive of Bush as his predecessor was. The two issues he is critical of the US on (according to the UK press) are firstly the way the US applies tariffs to foreign goods in an unfair way to protect US businesses. The second is on climate change. I’ll stay off the debate as I got into trouble the last time I did.

So - nothing to worry about for you.

……..he is Scottish though….now that’s a worry  !

...and my guess is he prefers Lindsey:laugh:

Where Blair was a victory of style over substance, Brown has neither

that's a bit harsh.

He was a good Chancellor and kept the finances in good order. He's not as charasmatic as Tony Blair but he strikes me as being honest if a bit dour (he wasn't nicknamed the Iron Laddie for nothing)

He's already started to make some changes and has been thrown in at the deep end with these terrorist attacks we've had this week and so far has coped well.

I hope he wont be as much of a poodle as Tony Blair was
