Has Stevie "Gone to Ground?" Gone "Silent?"

Not to detract from the excitement of discussing the tour and calendar and everything else; but I wanted to throw an idea out to you guys and get everyone's thoughts on it. Please bear in mind that I'm not putting her down in the slightest and I'm not even saying that it's a "bad" thing - but -

Stevie has said nothing to us in almost six months now.

Nothing.

I know this statement on the surface may seem totally ass-backwards wrong.
But look at this -

January 14th, 2006:

"So, as Mick and I went from room to room delivering their tiny iPod~ they told us their stories. Mick became his tall, loving, father figure, English self~ taking in every word they said~ remaining calm (at least on the outside) inspiring them. We floated from room to room . . . The morning of the second day, Mick and I went to Arlington National Cemetery. . . . . He [Kennedy] is everywhere there and you can feel it. . . . .So all that said, what we try to do on our visits, is to use our power to call back that charmed, childlike innocence~ and the answer to that, in my opinion~ is music. Music gives you the strength to keep moving. Music inspires you. Inspired people don’t stay down."

"That’s what I.E.D.’s , improvised explosive devices, do. They destroy from a distance; a cowards bomb. We don’t really know the extent of their injuries.

Pray for them.

We leave for Melbourne Australia tonight at 11:45. I got up at 10:00 today so I could have my quiet time on this, our last day in L.A. We will be back in 5 weeks. . . . .

So, off I go into the wild blue yonder once again. What an adventure~ and New Zealand too…I’m sure the minute I get on the plane this nervous, “not wanting to go” thing will be gone` just like stage fright.

So, bon voyage, America, for awhile. Goodbye, house that I love and, goodbye “tree of my heart”~
I will be right back~
Love,
Steph."

"walked into Walter Reed today a single woman with no children~ I walked out~ a mother, a wife, a girlfriend, a sister, a daughter, a nurse, a patient’s advocate~ a changed woman~"

Since these entries published on Nicksfix, 6 months ago and more, i.m.o. there's been NOTHING comparable in terms of giving us information, telling us how she's feeling, etc.

Oh - she's done many, many interviews, you say? Yeah she sure HAS! In them, we learned that she's pissed off at Lindsey; she's sad that Christine has left the band and still holds out hopes; she's working on some sort of "Three Birds of Rhiannon" song or poem; she feels that she's the only one that can tell her story; the internal politics of Fleetwood Mac sometimes take the fun out of recording and touring; big huge record companies can be difficult to deal with; she feels that writing is best done only when you're inspired; Landslide is about when she was thinking of giving up and going home; and GEE Phoenix sure is HOT!

Don't get me wrong, Crystal Visions was great and she was pretty open there - mostly humorous, but open. But when's the last time she did the "Ask Stevie" thing on Nicksfix, just as another example?

So yeah, I want to toss this idea out there and ask what everyone thinks -

Stevie's "gone to ground," folks... She's "gone silent" and isn't really saying anything to us at all right now.

What does everyone think?

What do I think?

Uh, that she doesn't have anything left to say to us right now.

I also do not know where she has said she is mad at Lindsey, either. If you are talking about her comments about FM, she said it was a boy's club...there are two other guys besides Linds.

She's been pretty busy. And she's not really an internet kinda gal. It's not like she's not giving interviews, etc.

BTFLCHLD 06-19-2007 09:23 PM

I think ethan needs a vacation.

Well yeah, but it just seems to me that there's literally nothing new in the interviews. "Mad" at Lindsey - check. "Internal Politics" of Fleetwood Mac take some of the fun out of it - check. New album coming out - check. Landslide is about when she was thinking of quitting - check. Working on some sort of new Rhiannon thing - check. Anything new that she hasn't been saying for 20 years now? Nope.
Seems that way to me anyway.

Uhmmm, not quite sure what you mean, but I'm not Ethan.

:blob2:

What is she supposed to say? She did a few little TV appearances for CV. There are no new tunes to discuss, nothing going on with Mac. She's not really in high demand right now as far as the media goes.

ELIUD 06-21-2007 12:57 PM

Well maybe she finally got the word on Bill Gamelson's crazy ass threats and she's on the down-low hiding from him. Isn't that what you wanted?

belladonnadream 06-22-2007 06:04 PM

I hate to say this but I do have a bad feeling that Stevie is winding down~ Her last 2 tours have not been to support any real new material~ she seems to be negative on Mac and the Christine deal and she did say on Ellen she needs a break~ there's been word that she says she's "tired" or rumours that she wants to retire~ and she is 59~ I just think Stevie doesn't want to disappoint fans~ that would contribute to fans ending her career not her choosing it~ not to say Stevie may lie a little but she doesn't want to say or disappoint~ like when she says in public when there's lots of people around, " Oh F. Mac is never a no"~ then she turns around the next day and says to an interviewer when no one else is around~ I won't do Mac unless Christine is there! I think deep inside she's ready to slow down and quiet herself~ she maybe just hates to admit it!
