Mansfield - Quick review

A terrific show tonight. She looked really...cute (for lack of a better word), and happy. Stand Back is a great way to open the show - this from a die-hard Outside the Rain fan.
There was a fun/interesting moment right after landslide; Chris I. and his band came out to say farewell to stevie and her band on stage. I can't explain well what happened cos I'm tired, but chris startled her by gently grabbing her shoulders while she was at the mic receiving applause. Stevie later explained that for a moment she felt like it was her father's hands on her shoulder. You had to be there I guess (again, I'm tired). I was up close (luckily) and you could see the look on her face when it happened. She was startled.
Still of the Night was really wonderful, a perfect summer song. Best vocal of the night was Gold Dust Woman or Still of the Night..can't decide. Rhiannon wasn't bad, believe it or not. Edge came to life after the middle bit.

The girls were singing well...better at the end than at the beginning. The band was tight, but not too tight. The croud was into it, I thought. Very appreciative and into it.

A nice way to spend a very humid, sultry summer night.

I've seen her concerts since Wild Heart, and tonight's was right up there with the best of them, no lie. She's not singing like it's 1984, we all know that, but in some respects she's better because she's really maximizing what she's capable of, if that makes any sense.

You know what, maybe a FM tour isn't a good idea. She looks so much more relaxed and happy at her own shows...

Oh, and I don't need to tell you guys this, but she's got some #!#% FREAKY fans.

I'm glad to hear you had such and awesome time. Where were your seats?

DashingDan 06-18-2007 08:40 AM

My seat was very very good (and expensive, I bought my ticket from the box office an hour before she took the stage) Middle section, Row F (so, 6th row), a few seats in...I was right in front of Lenny.

Nice review. I like hearing different people describe in what way Stevie seems really great to them right now on this tour. I love hearing how happy she is, I love others confirming that she is in great voice. I also love crazy fan stories, if you want to elaborate.
