Anyone know of a release date for the Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers live dvd?

I'd heard that this was originally due to be released in March but alas, nothing has materialised as yet...

Regardless of the delay, Tom Petty fans (count me as one) have it so much better than Stevie fans. Tom has consistently released several quality live DVDs in the past few years. Not to mention an amazing 6 cd box set that includes tons of rare and unreleased stuff, along with volumes of personal commentary on every single song. It's the dream box set we thought Enchanted would/could have been. Oh well... don't ask me what I think of this...I might not give the answer that you want me to.

Tom Petty's box set, released in 1995, is called "Playback." I bought it at a local record store when it was first released, so I can't speak to it's availability...since I already have it! But I don't think it should be too difficult to track down. If you appreciate Tom Petty it's worth obtaining. It's organized extremely well, with the songs grouped in creatively implied titled discs:

1. The Big Jangle
2. Spoiled and Mistreated
3. Good Booty
4. The Other Sides
5. Through The Cracks
6. Nobody's Children

I'll definately have to buy this DVD when it comes out......

Does anyone know if Stevie will have a CV tour DVD?

The Petty DVD is still in post-production - maybe we'll see it before the end of the year?

BTW, Tom Petty's boxed set also has "The Apartment Song," w/ Stevie. :wavey:

Oh yeah, I forgot about The Apartment Song..."I used to live in a two room apartment, neighbors knocking on my wall..." Love that song and love it even more with Stevie singing with Tom. Too bad they haven't done a duet album together...it would be amazing. Also on the box set is Stop Dragging My Heart Around before Stevie got it. In some ways they have almost done an album together...or rather an EP:

Stop Dragging My Heart Around
I Will Run To You
Insider
Insider (live)
Needles and Pins (live...great!)
The Apartment Song
I Need To Know (live)

and a bonus track : Stevie's cover of Free Fallin'

skcin 06-12-2007 09:52 AM

^ Needles & Pins is one of my all-time faves.

Thanks for the heads up. I bought it on Amazon and it arrived today. I really love it. I thought that a DVD came with it, but the DVD is out sometime this summer? Right?
