the Martina McBride concert last night...

was amazing. I know there are a couple other fans of hers here and I just want to tell you to be sure you catch her on tour if you can. this was my first time seeing her and she is absolutely one of the best voices I've ever heard. her set was gorgeous...she looked stunning, as usual. I wasn't really expecting her to be such a great entertainer...you know...I was there to hear her, but she was very active and funny and cute and had a great stage presence - and gawd, she's tiny. one part that was especially special (as Stevie would say) was when she took a moment to thank everyone for spending their hard-earned money to buy tickets and to take the time to drive downtown to see her. she said she does not take for granted the life and dreams her fans have given her. how awesome is that?! back to her voice...she was perfection all the way through though as the night got on I did notice she had to work for some of the money notes. I got some video that I'll upload in a bit, but they do not compare to how clear and pure her voice is.

and, as a sidenote, some things I noticed and thought were interesting...she did not change clothes once...not even for the encore...although, if I had on the Louis Vuitton heels she had on, I wouldn't have changed either. she sang 2 (maybe 3, I can't remember now) new songs, 3 cover songs and the rest were her usual catalog of hits. she did remark that it's very hard to figure out what to sing off of a new record. I do think that she made wise choices to keep the energy up throughout the night. the Warren Brothers opened for her. I was hoping for Little Big Town, but no luck. I'm not a big fan of the Warren Brothers, but they actually surprised me and were funny and cute and endearing.

like I said, I'll upload video in a bit.

I have a friend who would love to see her when she plays OKC in July

Now, she may get a preview of the show, that is if she attends it...

Wow! I'm not "a fan", but what a voice! I certainly wouldn't mind sitting through a concert full of that.
How lovely that she was so gracious. And, how do people identify others' shoe brand so readily?

Jaz, I'm not very familiar with Martina, but loved the videos! I'll check out some of her music. Any recommendations?

Glad you had such a great time!

Did she do Independence Day?

she is very interesting because she can do really, really country stuff, but then turn around and do some cool pop or power ballads.

Valentine, Independence Day, Broken Wing, How Far, Concrete Angel, Wild Angels, In My Daughter's Eyes, God's Will, Strangers, Happy Girl, Wrong Again, Blessed and the above two, Where Would You be and Anyway are my favorites. basically, you could get her Greatest Hits album and the last two and be set for her best. actually, I think I have all those so, if you want, I could send it to you. she also did an album a couple years ago of country standards with the best version of Help Me Make It Through the Night that I've ever heard.

I love her voice too. Fantastic singer.

estranged4life 06-10-2007 08:55 PM

Just think, A few years back she was working the merchandise stand for her buddy Garth Brooks while GB toured

GB gave her the first break since he knew she was a helluva singer, the rest is history.

That is wild, isn't it?!?! I had forgotten that tidbit.

She does have an amazing voice. Thanks for the videos!

GypsySorcerer 06-11-2007 08:09 AM

Thanks for the videos, Jazzy. Martina has one of the most amazing voices, from any genre, I've ever heard. I hope to see her on this tour.

camchristo 06-11-2007 08:09 PM

My boyfriend is a drummer and he bought Martina's drummer's kit from him a while ago. He has different ones now - just an interesting tidbit. :)

Awesome, Jaz. I am so thrilled she did (and you filmed) Where Would You Be. It's my absolute favorite Martina tune. Her voice just blows me away. Thank you so much.
