The Republican Debate

So, the debate was last night. I missed it because I was at my sister's swim meet. Did anybody catch it?

I think it airs tonight actually ... Tuesday, June 5th

sasja 06-05-2007 04:13 PM

the democratic hopefuls debated well, very well, Sunday night I thought. It was an actual debate! :D With good points made and suggestions aired, I was impressed.
And am soo hopeful that we will get a good president out of that group!

I am not going to watch tonight, because it will depress me too much. And I have read enough depressing info already on where those 8 yahoos woops 12 even stand so no thank you, no watching that and getting angrier.

May watch Cooper's commentaries later though :D
for the rest: will read the columns tomorrow.

Just a few minutes ago, the topic was gays in the military and the question "should the don't ask don't tell policy" be re-evaluated. Every single one of them skirted the issue with their double talk. Totally disgusting and disheartening to hear. After their double talk and no one really answering the question, the moderator asked one final time, "do any of you believe that gays and lesbians should be able to serve openly in the military?" None of them said a word - complete silence ...

I agree, sasja, it was an excellent debate. I have seen two of the Democratic debates so far and have been very impressed with the slate. I'd be happy with any of them at this point.

I watched one GOP debate--that's all my poor stomach can handle.

They might as well have screamed, "OH HELL NO!" Bastards.

The sad thing is we know Giuliani believes gays should be able to serve openly but he's become a chameleon so he can win the nomination. This whole process is fascinating....all the moderate Dems have moved to the left for the primaries and all the moderate Republicans have moved to the right. I know it happens all the time, but I've never seen it happen so blatantly as this year.

GypsySorcerer 06-06-2007 01:07 PM

^^^ Yep. What a turd Giuliani is, with his pandering to the evangelicals. He's been labeled a RINO for years, and now he's moving toward the right. I wonder what he'll do if he is in fact the GOP candidate.

Whoever the Democratic nominee is, he or she should be able to wallop these jokers.

I just wish the debate moderator would grow some balls and make them answer the question. I watched for maybe a total of 10 minutes yesterday, and really, I was amazed at how much they were allowed to go off topic or respond to the question before and never answer their own. Endlessly.

I have yet to find a candidate from either party that I am comfortable in supporting. These rich assholes don't know a thing about my world.

The moderator was just as gutless as they were, and that is saying something.

I would have respected these people more if they just took a real stand on the homo military issue. Just stand up and say it what you think, you weaklings.

On the bigger picture, I'm with Sarah. I hate all of them, Dems and Repugs alike. I think Romney is the only candidate who essentially doesn't want to open the entire treasury to Mexico and import everyone here. Honestly, we should just ****ing annex Mexico and make it a state. That would solve the whole debate right there. We're going to end up giving them half the GNP anyway.

Word em up.

And I'd just like to say, for the record, I'm not so worried about Mexicans crossing the border easily as I am non-Mexicans crossing the Mexican border easily.
