Lost

Did anyone else watch the finale???

Josh2003 05-24-2007 04:17 PM

Yes! And wow!

This season really picked up in the last bunch of episodes. I thought they ended in a good place...I'm wanting to know more, but it's not a huge cliffhanger like the past two seasons (which both ended with main characters being dragged off my the Others).

Kind of happy to see Charlie go, although it was a sad moment. I never really liked his character much.

Not Penny's boat? Then why did Naomi have the photo of Penny and Desmond??

Also...who was in the casket that Jack visited? My first guess was Sawyer...

Johnny Stew 05-24-2007 04:47 PM

Definitely a compelling episode. Sorry to see Charlie go... I think he could have saved himself, if he had run OUT and shut the door. But I guess he had to die to fulfill his destiny.

I'm glad Hurley was given a chance to be a hero, too... without having to die.

My guess is that the person in the casket is Locke, and that the "he" Kate referred to ("he'll get mad if he knows I'm here" -- or something like that ) is Sawyer. Another theory is that the dead person is Juliet, which would also explain why none of the survivors (assuming there are more than just Jack, Kate and a few others) would come to the funeral.

Speaking of which, I never expected this series to have a "and they all lived happily ever after" kind of ending, but, wow, the future for the Castaways seems pretty bleak.
I wonder if this will basically end up being 'Poseidon Adventure - The Series,' where only a very small handful of the Castaways ultimately survives and makes it off the island.

I was hoping they'd offer us something a little less grim than that at the end, after watching for six seasons.

I wouldn't count Charlie out just yet.....
I predict after they are rescued..he will resurface to find he was left behind.

My husband Matthew Fox was brilliant as always.

I pretty much agree with your thoughts. The only other possible in the casket is Ben maybe?? I don't think it's Juliet as I think she has more than proved she is with the Losties now. Hurley was fab!

Am I the only one who shed a tear for Charlie then??? Also got a bit chocked up when Russo was reunited with Alex.

Kelly 05-25-2007 11:58 AM

Here is my problem. Jack supposedly said to the doctor to "go upstairs and get my father, if I am drunker than he is, then you can fire me". That was supposed to be after the rescue, right? Um, his dad is dead. So, it makes no sense.
They never addressed why Claire's baby is "special", either or the connection between Claire and Jack.
I feel bad about Charlie and I think Ben or Locke is the one in the casket. Kate was talking about Sawyer getting mad that she was talking to Jack. I am sort of bummed that it appears they will get off the Island...I sort of like the storyline of them being there. It's exciting and they could have done soo much more with it. Polar bears, Russo, what were the Others really doing there...etc. I am not going to like having them all home. Hopefully some will go back or some will still be there, like Locke or Charlie..or even Desmond.

I thought about Ben as a possibility, too. But, whomever it was, Jack seemed disturbed that no one showed up for the funeral -- and I can't imagine him caring whether anyone showed up for Ben's funeral. Unless, of course, the dynamic of their relationship changes between now and their rescue.

I didn't shed any tears, but I was really sad to see him go. I pretty much figured there was absolutely no way he wasn't going to die, after Desmond started having his premonitions -- so I "made my peace with it," so to speak.

My thought is that Jack is so drunk and drugged out, that he's completely delusional (notice how he was conveniently "away" when the pharmacist wanted to call him about the prescription, or that he was "upstairs" when Jack was arguing with the other doctor).
Unless... somewhere during the next couple of seasons, he learns that his father wasn't really in that casket he was transporting home from Sydney?

I'm thinking that, since they have three more seasons (48 episodes) to go, that they'll still be on the island for most, if not all, of next season... perhaps actually leaving in the season finale. Season Five might then deal with the survivors re-adjusting to life at home and show us more of Jack's descent -- maybe with flashbacks to things that happened on the island that we didn't know about, or maybe showing what's happening to whomever may have stayed (or been left) behind.
Season Six might then focus on Jack (and other survivors?) returning to the island, for whatever reason he has for wanting to do so.

It's fun to speculate. :)

Gypsy-Rhiannon 05-25-2007 12:33 PM

There is speculation that maybe when they get off the island they can go back to before the crash and maybe do things differently. Maybe that's how Jacks Dad could still be alive. I just figured Jack was drunk and delusional.

That would be interesting -- they could explore the idea of a "do over," and whether or not your life would really turn out better if you made different choices.

I haven't watched for long, but since they weren't subtle about the dad thing, I figured it would be one of the big upcoming plot points.

I was surprised that Charlie was the one to die, only because everybody expected it. I figured the death would be Hurley, the Korean guy, or the Scottish guy. Shows what I know.

I didn't watch any of the episodes that really told about Russo (is it Rousseau?), but I think the actress who plays her daughter is pretty good.

I <3 Rousseau!

We haven't really had anything explaining Rousseau apart from the fact she killed the rest of her group because they were 'infected', her baby (Alex) was stolen from her as a baby and she's been on the island for 16 years. I think we might have some Rousseau flashbacks next season

I just found that site last night...basically it's Wikipedia for all things LOST. Answers a LOT of questions, and is highly addictive!
