drug testing

if you knew for certain that a horrible disease could be cured within a couple of years, such as AIDS or cancer, but the drugs must be tested on humans, understanding some would die from the testing itself, in order to get the cure perfect, would you agree with human testing?

(wow, that's a run on sentence if I ever saw one!)

regardless of your answer, how does this agree or disagree with your position on animal testing?

I thought this was going to be a "does your work drug test" kind of thing

Anyway, I said yes. I said yes because if a person is willing to put themselves through those tests then they should have the free will to do so. Animals cannot make those decisions for themselves, which is why I feel I can distinguish between the two - or at least feel ok with one but not the other.

Darn, I thought this thread was gonna ask "What kinda drug testing would you like to take, to determine if you could use some drugs?"

that's interesting, because a friend of mine actually works for a company which does human testing.. not that I know much about what she does.

If people were told of the risks beforehand, and consented to it, then absolutely yes.
