Big Yellow Taxi
I read where LB did a cover of this song and only the first 25 seconds exist.
At the Boulder concert, a guy told me that the whole songs exists. Does anyone know? or have it in .mp3 or .wav format? (Thanks and I apologise if this has already been discussed.) |

thank you richard!!!!!!!!!!!!
i tried to look up the lyrics but could only find joni's & counting crows. when she says "and a big yellow taxi took away my old man" it sounds like he's saying "took away my old band." more fm regrets? or maybe bn? this was cool! :] |
Thank you Richard B. for the song  and MacMan for the original thread.
I thought it was just an "urban legend" and it is great to know that it exists! (It is even greater that I get to listen to it whenever I want! ) :D (Also, thanks for not yelling at me for asking something that has already been discussed.) You Ledgies are really nice people - and have made a fat-assed housewife from Denver - VERY happy! :] :] Thanks! |
Thanks Betsy for bringing this up and thank you Richard B for re-posting it. I had this song on my PC but it is now dead and I never put the song on a CD. I know, stupid! Now, I have it on my notebook and I am going to put it on to a CD!:)

While were on this topic has lindsey done any other cover versions that havent been released. I liked the brief Louie Louie by the Kinks that he did on the Radio. Apart from Big yellow taxi and those few stones songs he did, are there any more

I think this take on BYT is good.
Also, and not to start WWIII - is that La Nicks doing some of those oooooooo's and ahhhhhh's? |

richard berry wrote it and did it first, then another band - can't remember their name, somebody & the wailers (obviously not bob marley). ... i think another group released a version, and then the kingsmen and paul revere and the raiders recorded it again in 63 almost simultaneously, but the kingsmen version won out on the chart. i recall seeing a kinks version of louie louie on a discography for a various artists compilation, but i've never heard it (to my knowledge). the kingsmen version was released on 2 different labels.. one was a regional, pacific northwest label, "jerden". that particular 45 goes for big time bucks if you're lucky enough to find it.. ultra mega rare. |
