How is it that Amazon lists so many potential things that never come to light? It's not like IMDB that is fan made, so there could be some confusing info given or posted. This is a legit biz that perpetually lists things that either don't exsist or never come to be. Not just w/ SN/FM either, but with many artists. Not to say that this won't be true, but I highly doubt it. It says original release date 1985, I think...so it's not the new show, and it doesn't seem like it'd be the original RR show, and even if it were, where in the heck would be the intrest versus several more current things? Weird, weird, weird.

My bad, original release date 1995. Stranger yet.

wtf is this? Are they finally going to release a live Stevie album?

Wasn't that the date when it made it to DVD?

GarboSpeaks! 05-02-2007 12:01 PM

NO way! I'm 99 & 9/10ths sure that this was released very close to true date. MAYBE 88 at the latest, but I am thinking more like 87. I have some old mag ads about it, and thought for sure late 80's. Even if it was eraly 90's, not 95...but I've been known to be wrong a time or 2

I guess it depends on your perception of "live". If you mean a recording taken from the Red Rocks show, dubbed in a studio, having extra vocals and instruments added, having all the rough parts cleaned up, and then converted into a digital format on CD, then yes. Live it is.

Ah, so just as live as The Dance album was.

And I could be wrong too.. But to me it seems that it was sometime during the 90's that it was put out on dvd... That's when I bought the dvd. And also, the dvd that I have (right on the dvd disc) it says "copyright 1987, 1995 Lightyear Entertainment".

GarboSpeaks! 05-02-2007 10:11 PM

Wait a minute. Duh me!!! I'm sorry. You are right. The concert, the item came out in 198? or so, but in VHS formatt. So yes, I am sorry. I think VHS. I also think record and casette. I don't think high-fi :p I was basing a "is this for real", the concept of a cd of this show based on the 198-something release. Ofcourse, no, audio would be lifted from the re-vamped DVD release of 1995. Still I am baffled at the whole prospect.

Speaking of Red Rocks, I just tried to watch Edge on you tube.

Hadn't seen any of that show in years.

I find it completely unwatchable, and unlistenable.

Those horrible post closeups are annoying as hell. The entire thing was edited so that you barely even see Stevie, and the audio is ridiculously overdubbed. It is painfiul. How the hell did I EVER enjoy it is what I was wondering six minutes in when I turned it off.
It is a truly heinous document.

I agree. I really don't like Red Rocks. Why not release the full HBO concert from '81 on DVD and include so many awesome tracks that never made it onto the VHS like Angel, Blue Lamp, How Still My Love and Bella Donna. It's an amazing concert and is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Red Rocks.
