Thrown Down...live

I think I remember someone saying they did this live a few times on the SYW tour...? Anyone got a good copy of it?

chiliD 04-30-2007 03:01 PM

As far as I recall, they DIDN'T play it.

From SYW, they did (at one time or another):

Peacekeeper
Say You Will
Destiny Rules
Say Goodbye
Goodbye Baby
What's The World Coming To?
Running Through The Garden
Red Rover
Come

and that was it.

Ahh I think I was confusing Thrown Down with Runnin thru the Garden or Destiny Rules. Thanks Chili!

I remember Cori Buckingham saying thatthey rehearsed it and it didn't work. But RTTG DID work and they were dumb for dropping it.

Anyone got a boot of RTTG? I'm interested how Lindsey handled the lead guitar in that one, since it's pretty sped up in the studio version. It's such a hyper-active guitar tone in that one.

Heres the video:

This is in fact better quality than the audio boot circulating around:

Thanks! :)

I can sorta see why they dropped it. Maybe it's just me but it seemed like it was a bit of a flat performance. Could be the video I suppose, might have been different for those there. Stevie sounds a bit bored.

Sadly....as she did for most of that tour. What a shame.

Stevie looked and sounded very bored for most of the tour, so I wouldn't single out this performance. I think they did a decent job of the song. Songs are dropped for various reasons: Time contraints, fatigue, or at the whim of the performer. Yeah, casual fans might not like hearing songs they don't know (Why?? It's supposed to a show, not your favorite play list).

They performed a good portion of songs from Say You Will right off the bat. But they never gave Running Through The Garden a chance. Stevie is frustratingly comfortable singing the same songs she's sung for 20-plus years...she can do that in her sleep. She apparently doesn't want to put the effort into singing too many new songs. Aside from a few performances of Destiny Rules, Stevie stuck with just two new songs for that tour. Lindsey, on the other hand continually sang 4 to 5 new songs. I wish Stevie would catch some of Lindsey's inspiration...she needs it.

^^^

not really - she did BC, SYW, and GB - she also resurrected Sara. I think she was ill for most of the first part of the tour. There was a noticeable bust of energy after the first leg (where her feet appeared glued to the gorund) and she was on fire by the third leg. I remember reading she had hurt her hip and I am sure the menopause did not help.

off-topic i know & thrown down is an excellent song but your video is hotttt, my little demon. just had to tell you that

JazmenFlowers 05-02-2007 05:29 PM

I don't think Thrown Down would really work live.

jmn3 05-02-2007 10:58 PM

I think any song can work live, including Thrown Down, RTTG, and my personal favorite of Stevie's from Say You Will, Everybody Finds Out. Fleetwood Mac has a long standing habit of this "some songs don't work well in a live setting" nonsense that is really too bad. I really don't understand that logic when you have the supporting band that a band like Fleetwood Mac had with them on the last tour...they could make any song work with the right amount of rehearsing.

Guys, this kicks all ass! Thanks for posting!! The opening chords sent a shiver down my spine .... Exciting!

Musicman408 05-05-2007 08:33 PM

I wish Stevie had done more SYW songs.
