hi! lb articles & an opinion

ok, this is weird! with lb touring & all, i found some articles i thought were interesting & decided to post for the first time. i just noticed i joined exactly 1 year ago today! frickin weird! oh i also wanted to say that i am a huge lb fan but i think him cancelling in lincoln for whatever reason was lame. a true pro woulda & coulda got up there & made the best of the situation. think jimi hendrix. think someone who could use his voice & skill & experience of over 30 years over the sound equipment. i won't stop buying his cds or going to concerts of course. but i lost a little respect for bailing one hour before the show. the fans should come first. anyway, no i'm not a troll. just an opinion.

here are the articles. you might have seen them. the first covers everything. everly brothers, lb gets a little defensive about question & peter green, hd & dvd coming out in fall :blob2: , having kids and buckingham nicks cd.

http://www.canada.com/montrealgazett...879f45&k=32340

second is a charity that lb & family contributed to & a pic of his wife & daughter. home run for kids.

so hi everybody & hope to post more often now!

thanks for posting...

hi michelle, thanks for posting. i think the first article was already posted but the picture of kristen and stella is cute.

i have to agree with you about not doing the show. i think he should have done it regardless of the equipment issue. he could have said that it's not the ideal situation but i'll make the best of it because you came out to see me or somethng like that. the diva comment posted by the venue actually doesn't surprise me. let's face it, he's been a rock and roll star for 30+ yrs now. i'm sure he's ego is pretty up there. i think he should know that his fans are somewhat "cultish" and some would have been traveling a great distance to see him. even he acknowledges that his music is a bit strange to most people. of course, i'm still a great fan and will continue to support him. however, he should know that not everyone on this earth can afford a $21m house to live in - money comes hard to most people. i think i would have been really pissed off if i spent the money to see him and he canceled if he wasn't sick. just my opinion but i'm sure it's not a popular one based on the other thread.

remember folks before you blast me - this is america!

yeah, i think the same thing. I think he is a diva & probably did call their venue a f***ing s***hole but it was unprofessional for them to post that. other than that, it was his choice not to perform & i think it was the wrong one. a true pro takes one on the chin, sucks it up, delivers the show as promised & then vows never to play there again. at least he doesn't let his fans down. i still think the world of him musically but lost a little respect overall.

& yeah, this is america :wavey:

Hello! I think it's good to have an opinion- I usually have one too  , but I don't think we can judge his decision, because we don't know the ins and outs. The guy is in the last part of the third leg of his tour and he's been delivering great shows for months and months now: ALL in small venues, all with their paired down possibilities, all without any problems. I don't know what happened, so I can't judge. What I DO know that this is NOT America. People tend to think they're the center of the universe over there, but this is the internet. Welcome to the WORLD. So we may have slightly different ethics when it comes to speak out freely and bash out opinions without being attacked on them. I won't in this case. Simply because I think it is difficult to judge a disagreement between people without knowing what happened exactly. I just believe that LB is NOT the type of guy that cancels a show just because he's moody.

Well, I know for a fact that Lindsey does NOT cancel a show because he is sick. The Albuquerque show was proof of that!:)

not only that, does anyone recall the denver fleetwood mac show? he kept leaving the stage to take hits of oxygen and then continued to perform. i think someone said he looked absolutely horrible but kept on trucking

i know he has a pretty good track record & i'm not saying he's a slacker. by the same token, the venue has a good track record with lb being the only one that's ever cancelled, let alone with one hours notice. so i think it boiled down to lb not getting his way & a bad judgment call to cancel. he said in that montreal interview that his fans are cultish so i'm sure he knew there would be travelers with nowhere to go but back home. those are the ones i feel badly for. & he's a pro for the most part. if he had cancelled because he was sick, it's understandable but not because he couldn't have his toys.

Wow. I know you are entitled to your opinion, but I certainly don't believe he cancelled because he "couldn't have his toys". He is a perfectionist, and this is understood. He must have felt the show would not be up to par or what his fans deserved. He undoubtedly felt horrible cancelling, but would not have done so without sufficient reasoning, I believe. Would you rather he be frustrated and give a sub-standard show? Not likely. I realize people traversed great distances to see the show, but things happen some time that are disappointing and seemingly unfair.

I agree with most of what you said but the situation could have been avoided. his management & the venue should have locked things down long before the show & if there was some misunderstanding, one night of a sub-standard performance, in his opinion, wouldn't have killed him. it boiled down to his not being given permission to bring in extra equipment (toys) for extra sound quality, etc. i'm sure the venue had amps, speakers, mics, roadies & ample equipment so that no one else in the history of the venue had ever had to cancel. & i'm sure lb had his guitars. after 30+ years of being in the music business & all the politics that go along with that, you'd think he could get up there & make the best of it. two weeks notice? no problem. but one hour? just my opinion & i'm new but just because i am, i don't idolize him to the point that i don't see him as human. he made a mistake & i think he was wrong. no one else had a problem performing there & that says a lot. with all his wealth, maybe he's forgotten what it's like to save up for months to see a concert, fill up the car with gas & drive the umpteenth hundreds of miles to get there only to find the doors locked & nowhere to go but home. coz that's what happened. in my opinion, bad judgment call, that's all.

Fair enough, we will agree to disagree and that's OK. But I would like to make one thing clear: I don't have blinders on, I know he's a human and not a diety, if that is what you are implying. He probably knew he couldn't deliver a show that would work given the complexity of his song arrangements, in my opinion. My $.02.

Lindsey, like all of us, makes mistakes. I am of the opinion  the cancellation isn't one of them.
