Alt Versions on Crystal Visions?

Hey all,

Gotta say I am loving the Crystal Visions collection. The DVD commentary is hilarious!

Has anyone noticed there are some different versions of some of the songs?

For example, did someone remix or include a different cut of Stand Back? There are some sounds in the recorded I haven't heard before, plus there is more sonic "depth" in the recording than there was before. Same with "Talk To Me" and "Sorcerer" too...

And on "Leather & Lace", Don Henley repeats the "The first time that I saw you" line again after "sometimes I'll get by." Which is odd, because the Timespace version doesn't have that..

Am I going crazy?

The tracks sound fuller, especially Stand Back. The drum track seems to jump out. Producer/mixer Mark Needham worked on the whole thing, so everything was probably remastered. It's a standard practice for retrospectives.

That was the original vocal. It was probably edited down to accommodate space limitations of vinyl. You can find this complete version on the Enchanted box set, too.

Has the DVD soundtrack been remixed to 5.1? I would love to hear that (copy probably arriving in 2 weeks  )

Are you sure about that? The "extra" line that Don sings is not on my copy of CV. Were you perhaps playing the song in a iTunes play list or something similar and it was playing the Enchanted version? I just listened to my copy of L&L on CV and Don's extra line is not there.

That's strange... the extra/repeated line is definitely there on my copy of 'Crystal Visions,' too. I was surprised they used it, instead of the original album version.

Ok this is strange, I wasn't actually playing the CV CD, I was playing my copy of it that I downloaded from iTunes. I am listening to the correct L&L though, from the CV download. It's supposed to be the same as the CD though right? Why would it be different? The extra line from Don is definitely not included on the copy I got from the downloaded version. The running times reads 3:44 and the one on Enchanted with the extra line from Don reads 3:57. I'll have to check my CD later today, it's in my car right now, but that is strange.

You're right. The downloaded L&L on CV from itunes is missing the extra Don line... mine shows a running time of 3:44 whereas the cd version is showing 3:54 and has the extra repeated line...
