Is this what you want?

I know you all know the answer to this - which performance and song does Stevie go into spasms with "Is this what you want from me?"..... I have it somewhere (I think), but it's so much quicker asking you!

I believe it was a live version of Rhiannon from the Tusk era perhaps?

LeighB04 03-28-2007 10:04 PM

I seem to remember it as a version of Sisters of the Moon... but my memory resembles a sieve most of the time, so you may well be right.....

I was thinking it could have been that too. I'm totally going off the top of my head though, so don't don't count on me completely lol. For some reason, Rhiannon stood out more as it being the one she sang it in, but if I think about it, SOTM would make more sense as being the song it was done in...

Hopefully someone else will know for sure!

No, it was from Rhiannon. I remember seeing it on a video. She's singing, "Dreams unwind, love's a state of mind, is this what you want???"

It's haunting. Her hair was also wildly permed, which makes me think it was at least sometime past the Rumors tour. Or at least late in it.

MacMan 03-29-2007 06:57 AM

Isn't that line in "Blue Lamp"?

strandinthewind 03-29-2007 07:28 AM

If memory serves me correctly, it is the Atlanta Tusk show at the Omni. I do not have a copy, but, I am sure someone does.

i think she did this at many shows late in the tour. it wasn't just a one-off performance. sorta like, "i don't change, you don't change" in the mirage tour. i know there's several performances out there that i have where she chants, "is that what you want," but i'm at work so i can't check them!

did someone say they SAW this on video? is there a late tusk tour concert floating around out there? was this a performance from that Germany tv thing, perhaps?

Mick Fleetwood claims Stevie said this, in that stupid book of his. The same book where he says "...and Stevie doesn't let us perform Rhiannon anymore" meanwhile they did it on the 'Shake The Cage' and 'Behind The Mask' shows.

It's bull****.

I posted a thread about this a few years ago. Suposedly the shows are/could be...

Mobile
Lakeland
Atlanta
Birmingham
San Antonio
Hollywood Bowl

The Mobile one is for sure. I have it. The quality isn't great and the "is this what you want" doesn't come off as intense as Mick's book made it out to be. But still...cool. I'd like to hear some of the other shows, if they're even out there.

strandinthewind 03-29-2007 10:21 AM

Yea - it is not intense at all. It is more like a chant in a drug haze, which likely is what it was.

I do believe it was "Shake The Cage" - thanks for the memory jog! I saw it on video and (again, my memory!), she really seemed passionate and emotional about it.
Thanks for all the input - I knew I could rely on you all!

^^^

I thought on that tour she went off about the birds a la Cecelia.

I have lived to long around this stuff
