MTV Liner Notes 1983 - The "Hamburger Helper" Interview
While you're waiting on the Internet Gods to process this morning's CBS interview for your viewing pleasure, treat yourself to some vintage 1983 Stevie. She's funny, she's snide, she's self-deprecating - all the while being sexy as hell.
The Hamburger Helper bit is my fave Stevie quote ever, as I've said here many times. I remember the first time I brought it up (several years ago), only a few folks knew what I was talking about. No, it's not all about HH. :D This intervew is also where I heard Stevie tell the Prince story for the first time. And other good stuff you don't want to miss. Did I mention how sexy she is? Thanks to DarkUponLight at 7W for the EXCELLENT quality upload. I'm not even embarrassed about stealing the link. |
ooooowwww thanx, i haven't seen this in ages!!!~

wow - i know i've seen that, but YEARS ago. i love it - she was so clear and engaged. where was the footage of if anyone falls, beauty and the beast and edge at the end from?

I remember when this initially aired on MTV. I've got it on tape, somewhere.
Thank you for posting that!! rbs |
Hadn't seen this in a long time either. Makes me feel old though since it was back in the days of VJ's and they actually played music videos on MTV. Thanks Chuck!

wow. the clarity is awesome. and I love the HH quote! lol.

This is only the second time I've seen this. The first time was when it originally aired and I was waiting for it in front of our TV practically all day. My family didn't even own a VCR back then so this was wonderful to see again. Thanks for that. I love that she ended with "if you can't rock and roll, than you're old." And today she's singing "been a long time since I rock and rolled."
|
I think the fact that she says it so damn seriously that makes it hilarious. She is dedicated to making that **** different, electric skillet be damned!
|
^ I loved that too - "if you can't rock and roll, you're old." Classic Stevie.
I also loved how she talked about her fans and how she wants them to listen to her. (which we all do, don't we? I think I use at least one Stevie-ism a day! :p ) Anyone know where I can get a copy of that concert that the footage was taken from? It looks AWESOME! ~jamie |
priestofnothing uploaded lots of the Largo show to veoh - not sure if it's all there, however. The search engine sucks, but here's what I could find - it's downloadable, of course:

I was excited about the CBS interview this morning, but seeing this old one made my day. Back in the day, it was the first complete interview I'd ever seen. All the others to that point were fragments, or focused mostly on the Mac.
I had gotten Mirage and BD the year before, and TWH that summer of course. I knew I liked her music, but after seeing this video on MTV (after pacing the living room waiting for it to come on, just like others have said) I decided I liked *her*, too - futile culinary instincts and all. :D "I was the MOM - Camp ... Director: Cub Scouts!" |
That was absolutely amazing, thanks so much for posting, I had never seen it before. No one happens to have this and would be willing to upload it to yousendit or something, do they? I'd pretty much be in love with anyone who did. :wavey:
