Q magazine 100 greatest singers

I don't think anyone has posted this (apologies if someone has ):

In Q magazine's 100 greatest singers Stevie only ranks at 97 but she's one above Whitney Houston!

She is described as Fleetwood Mac's mystic princess with a smokey, country tinged voice that always quivers with emotion. She provided 'spooky harmonies' and 'fallen angel glamour' to the band. The breakup with LB giving her voice extra emotional resonance.

Best vocals on:
crying in the night
dreams
Rhiannon
Sara
storms
Stop draggin' my heart around
edge of seventeen
leather and lace
rooms on fire

I should add, the top 3 was:
3. Sinatra
2. Aretha
1. Elvis

I think Ella Fitzgerald should have been in the top three, but their choice is reasonable, even if I would have put Elvis at N. 1.

Where is Amy Winehouse on the list?

She's a relative newcomer, but the bitch is the dirt.

Aretha made the top 3!?! What is it with her...I seriously don't get it. I definitely would NOT put her at #2, no. way.

Stevie isn't too terribly well-respected in the UK, so I'm pretty surprised and impressed that she made this list at all.

I don't think she's that respected here, critic wise, either. I dunno, #97? That's like, 4 from not being on the list. Weak, hella.

I think that as a performer and a vocalist she is. Either way though, she's definitely more well-respected in the States than in the UK.
Even if it's only by a little. :)

The number is extremely low in my opinion (I'd rate her #1, of course), but thinking of the staggering amount of AMAZING singers who aren't even on the list (like Ann Wilson), it puts it into perspective.

Ann Wilson isn't on there? As usual, these lists need to bite my balls. In a manner of speaking.

That's utter nonsense. If Ann Wilson didn't make the list, then who cares. As for Frank Sinatra, I won't even go there. Spare me. Testosterone-driven top three does very little for me. I've always been partial to female singers, but come on.
