Fans won't have to walk a thousand miles to hear pop songbird Vanessa Carlton.

Or many miles at all.

The pianist will perform Saturday at DiamondJacks Casino & Resort in Bossier City.

Carlton made a name for herself at the age of 16 with her hit songs "A Thousand Miles" and "Ordinary Day." The young pianist's debut album, "Be Not Nobody," earned her three Grammy nominations for "Record of the Year," "Song of the Year" and "Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)."

In 2004, Carlton followed with her second release, "Harmonium." Carlton has collaborated with artists including the Counting Crows and Zucchero and opened for Stevie Nicks, who has taken the young artist under her wing.

"She's so generous," Carlton said in a news release. "She even gave me one of her famous shawls. We plan to write and produce together."

Carlton's next album is scheduled for release this spring.

I would love to see Stevie work only with female producers for her next album. I think it could be really interesting.

Thanks for posting, Livia! :xoxo:

I would like to Stevie rock out like she never has before on her next album. I think Wolfmother, Brian Eno and Rick Rubin could take her to another level

That quote is from 2005. I doubt this collaboration will happen in the foreseeable future, given Stevie's commitment to being a "road dog."

Vanessa Carlton's 'Harmonium'
Saturday, 09 July 2005
(NEW YORK)

(CBS) -- After the great success she achieved with her debut album, "Be Not Nobody," singer, songwriter and musician Vanessa Carlton is back with "Harmonium."

Carlton visits the Second Cup Cafe Café to perform songs from her sophomore album and talk about her career.

She is best known for her hits "A Thousand Miles" and "Ordinary Day." But it all started in Disney World after taking the "It's a Small World" ride at the age of two.

She tells The Saturday Early Show with laughter, "That ride scared the crap out of me. But when I came home, I sat down at the piano and began playing the song, at least that's what my mom says."

Her love for music continued and, though she studied ballet at the American School of Ballet, she says she decided music was a better fit.

At 16, she wrote most of the songs for "Be Not Nobody." Now that she is 24, she says "Harmonium" is a "more of a mature record."

Carlton has been opening for Stevie Nicks, who has taken Carlton under her wing. "She's so generous," Carlton says, "She even gave me one of her famous shawls. We plan to write and produce together."

I wonder if Stevie gave her a crappy shaw a fan threw on the stage during the Edge Walk or an actual vintage shaw?

I think this is probably more like it...although God knows the woman has a ton of them!

closest I got to them were when we yelled to corey buck at the end of the show in Philly(maybe it was AC?) if we could touch the shawls that she was carrying away and she said No Sorry, but then came back with them and said "The wardrobe lady said you could, but just really quick" so we got a nice feel of the SB and GDW shawls before she pretty much yanked them out of our hands!
