Gross & weird bug stories
Have you ever been hit by a bug in the face riding your bike? Swallowed a bug? :p Or, have you seen just a gross, huge bug in your house too sick to kill... or crap like that. C'mon...let's do gross and weird bug stories!!
|
I have an embarassing bug/sex story....:o
Is that tmi? oh well...I was in a long-term relationship at the time...but my boyfriend's room was nasty. Well the whole apartment was less than clean - and he had a female roomate who was the sloppiest girl I'd ever known. Anyway -they had a roach problem - so really it was amazing that I'd even step foot in the place as I hate hate hate roaches. But I always figured we were safe on the bed  Why I don't know - it's not as if Roaches don't climb... Anyway...there we are having a lovely tender moment when I feel something tickling my ear, I figure it's his hair as he had very long hair - then I feel something tickling my arm.... I brush it away and it's a roach...and I jumped up SCREAMING....grabbed clothes and told him I'd never come back to his place unless he cleaned his damn room and bought bug spray. *shudder* Other than that, I've had the occassional swallowing of an unkown insect whilst riding my bike - but no bugs have really freaked me out like that... Roaches are by far my biggest bug fear. I hate them. hate. I know they can't hurt you but I just find them to be the most vile of creatures. |
I find this really interesting because I LOVE insects, with a few exceptions. One of those is the cockroach. They're too nasty for me. Months ago, I spotted a huge American cockroach on the wall right above my tub. I was just gaping, but a friend was over and she was quick to grab a shoe and bash it. The head stuck to the wall, but the body slid down into the tub, leaving a stream of guts all the way down the wall. The whole thing was even more gross when the body finally hit the tub floor and continued writhing around. For a little while, I was just too grossed out to start cleaning up.
EDIT: Okay, Deanna really has me beat there. |
^^
NOOoooo that story is awful. I hate them. Seriously - though I don't love other insects, they generally don't bother me (unless they can kill me). But the vivid detail in your above story has ensured that I will not be eating lunch today...so so gross  I also hate killing them though - and thankfully haven't had to even deal with them for three years... OH! I was just reminded of another roach story. I had just moved into an apartment near the college I went to, it was an adorable one bedroom apartment and my neighbor was a good friend of mine, though a less than clean gal (I forgot to mention before that I am very clean to the point of anal-ness). Anyway, I was eating dinner at my little coffee table, all was well. I got up to refill my glass, when I turned back around there were roaches all over the coffee table...and on the walls...and on the carpet... I don't know where they came from but I FREAKED OUT! I left and went to the nearest store and bought a bunch of bug bombs...went home and just started cleaning like a mofo - at one point I looked up and saw that my apartment was completely foggy - so I knew I had to leave at that point...which I did. The roach problem got a ton better - but a few days later I was visiting my neighbor and the mystery of where they came from was solved. Gawd I hate them. |
This thread is like my worst nightmare. :wavey: Every notable bug encounter in my life is gross to me.
The 3 most traumatic - one time when I was three, my mom had softball practice at the highschool field. We had to walk across this huge field of grass/clover. I looked down, and seemingly the entire field was covered with bees. My mom started walking across. It was a long walk. I was shocked. She is scared of bees, too. Anyway, she was like "C'mon!", but I couldn't move, and just stood there crying and crying. She got way far across the field, but I still couldn't move, even though I could see that she safely walked across. I don't know what happened. I can't remember if she left me standing there paralyzed with fear, or if she got mad and came back and made me walk over. I remember feeling pretty abandoned and terrified...as if being left to sharks... The other was in 8th grade, I was getting ready for school. My dad had just gone to sleep a few hours before b/c he worked swing shift. I put on my gray Vans, and was going about my business. I kept feeling something in my shoe, I thought my sock was messed up. I took it off, and this GIANT potato bug dropped into the heel of the shoe. It was like 2 inches. And potato bugs are so gross anyways. I couldn't do anything, I just sat staring in horror for many minutes. Paralyzed. Finally i had to wake my dad up to dispose of it so I could put my shoe on and go on with my life. He was pissed. It was horrible, though. Last year, I was sitting in the dark watching TV with my door open, screen only. My cat started playing with something on the floor I couldn't see. I turned on the light, and there were bazillions of wasps on my floor. Also, one flying around. I pinched myself, I thought it was a nightmare. (there was a big wasp nest in my eaves above my door). The one flying terrorized me for an hour, as it parked itself way up by my ceiling and I couldn't spray it. But I had to keep watching it, because i had to keep it in my site. The floor ones I just kept spraying and spraying, it was horrible. I don't like bugs, but I don't like watching them die slowly and horribly. I couldn't smash them because I'm to scared to get that close. Then I had to clean them up, of course. Ants aren't too bad. I remember once when i was three, I stepped onto the porch in my rain boots, and somehow suddenly there were ants all up and down the boots. I was like "AAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" and my mom came out and impatiently saved me. Not very scared of ants, just think they are gross. Roaches are gross, but not too scared of them. The big problem is, I can't hardly squish bugs, because it is just too gross for me. Especially big bugs. It almost makes me barf, literally. I kind of like spiders, but big gross spiders still scare me pretty good, especially if found in close proximity as a suprise. But they eat other bugs, and who doesn't love that? Oh, I forgot about the time when I was in 3rd grade and there was a yellow jacket on my lunch, and I called the yard duty over in horror, and she flicked it right onto my arm. It seemed like on purpose, I mean, how hard is it to aim your flick away from someone? She was a biat, too. Anyway, it totally stung me. I swear she did it on purpose. Right when I saw her flick fingers, I was like "NOOOOOOO, WHAT ARE YOU DO-AHHHOOOWWWW!!!" I've stepped on bees and gotten stung twice while playing barefoot in grass. Not traumatic, since I didn't see them, but painful. If there is a hell, mine will be full of heinous bugs that I am constantly trying to get away from, but can't. |
One summer I was at an outdoor concert (Allman Brothers) it was in a grssy area on a college campus. I was walking around minding my own business, and I saw a dragonfly flying towards me... no big deal, but damned if that MF'r didn't hit me in cheek, bounce off, and continue about it's business.
I was pretty high so I thought it was funny about 30 seconds after the shock wore off... My friend got crabs from a girl once... does that count? |

Well, since we moved into this house back in Oct.92 I have been stung 3 times by scorpions and Deb has been stung only once. Hurts about the same as being stung by a yellow jacket.
Those lil' suckers used to bother me, now I enjoy their presence because I will pick 'em up by the tail and make 'em try to pinch me with their tiny pinchers. Of course I take 'em outside to release 'em. Something I think is odd is when the weather warms up outside 'wood roaches' come up through the sewer line into the sink in the kitchen...to only suffer a fate from the hot water of the faucet. |
Hate bugs. No horrifying stories to share (thanks Dee, Hilary & Amber!) but they're gross. I can deal with a spider or two in the house, but when they start mulitplying, they gotta go. We have roaches at work, and they're f*cking huge, but they pretty much hang out on the ground so I just walk the other way.

In my two years living in Rochester I never saw one Roach. So I'm surprised you have them at work...I mean I figured there HAD to be roaches somewhere up there - but thankfully I never saw any.
Rats? Saw lots of those...no roaches - so really it should have been the perfect place for me ;) |
kind of disturbing...

I found this on flickr (obviously) and I find it a little disturbing. I'm sure many others will. I can't really fathom actually seeing an insect this big, so I think I'd be a little scared if I saw it walking around on the ground. |
^ HOLY hell.

That is COOL! I don't want to find it in my bathtub or anything - but it looks really cool! I took an entemology class my last year in college - that really helped my view of bugs (except roaches)... |

I wouldn't be scared, cuz I'm certain I could kill it.. but gross. Vomit inducing gross. If my significant other let that thing crawl all over their hands, I wouldn't let them touch me for a very, very long time. That's the kind of **** that pops up in my nightmares. No way. Take it away. Bug zoo? No. Just no. Blech. |
