My cat Vinnie just died

Here he is. He was so cute and silly. The house will be so quiet now without his near constant loud miaowing. I will hate it. I can't imagine waking up tomorrow without it. He miaowed so much we could always have a conversation...
I didn't get to have the euthenasia where I stay with him, because I didn't have any money (I get paid tomorrow). Also, I couldn't leave him there for services for the same reason, I had to take him with me. So I walked home in the rain with him at 2:30 am, crying and crying, it took about an hour. I was using my cat ear umbrella. :o

Vinnister = Sinister + Vinnie. He was my little fat boy. He was my cute little loudmouth. He was my sweet little man. He was my Vinnister. I wish he wasn't in so much pain before he passed, I guess I should be glad it was only about 30 minutes. He had heart failure which threw a clot and paralyzed his back legs. The yowling of pain broke my heart.
I have a vet appt. for Friday for my other cat Spanky, but I think I'll try to get him in tomorrow.

I don't know what to do, the individual cremation is so expensive, but the cheaper group cremation you don't get the ashes back, and it isn't that cheap either. I really want him "with" me for some reason. I don't want his ashes scattered with a bunch of other animals in some random place. I know that is totally irrational, but he's my little man, I want him here, at his house.
I kind of want to bury him under the tree in my yard that he always climbed on, it was his only athletic skill, haha - but I don't know...do I just put him in a box and dig really deep? How deep?
Gosh, I can't believe it. He was so hungry and loud and sweet and round and pretty, I thought he'd always be here begging for a snack, so loud you could hear him way down the block. Even though he just ate. Yup, he was my cat all right...

So sorry to hear about your cat, Amber. Poor Vinnie. I know how hard it is to lose a pet...my thoughts are with you.

amber 02-22-2007 07:18 AM

Thank you very much. I had to talk about him, I can't stop crying. He was so goofy.
For those of you who listened, his vocal is featured prominently at the beginning of my recent rendition of "That's Alright" :xoxo:  He's so great. Just wanted to share a little bit about how he was, cause he was distinctive in some great funny ways.

So sorry to hear about Vinnie. I know how hard it is to lose a pet. {{hugs}}

It's so sweet that you said about having a conversation with him. I do that all the time with my remaining cat. My son got up this rmorning and I asked what had woken him and he said it was me talking to Kit

:o :o Thanks, Pip. It was so sudden. Aren't they sweet when they keep answering you back, and it really sounds like they are answering? Vinnie never stopped miaowing, lol.

I was just about to ask you this.

So sorry to hear about Vinnie. I can't imagine one of my cats dying. :( Why did he have to be put to sleep? Was he sick? Did I miss you posting about that?

amber 02-22-2007 07:58 AM

^^^^ Thanks, Strand. Edit: His problem is in the first post, Vanessa. He had congenital heart failure, threw a clot which paralyzed his legs and was very painful. This happened suddenly tonight a few minutes after I had fallen asleep. I took him to the vet, and they said it was best to put him down, he wasn't going to get better, and he was in lots of pain. Poor thing.

Thank you. :xoxo: I decided when I was walking home that instead of resting in peace, I want him to rest in snacky miaow. It's what he would have wanted.

I know many here have lost a pet, and it is always horrible, but it is nice to be able to talk about him a bit on here, because I'll never see him again.

Amber..I am so sorry about your Vinnie, they have such a way of stealing our hearts...I just wanted to suggest that maybe you could arrange some kind of payment plan in order to have the private cremation? I know once my vet worked with me when my Buster needed treatment and I had no money.I gave him my camera and some jewlery to hold until the bill was paid..Just a suggestion and perhaps your vet will have heart and work with you on this .if it is important to have Vinnies remains with you.Just remember that no matter what.Vinnie and his love will be with you always.,.for the Love never dies..and if you need to talk about anything ..you can pm me and or go to
www.petloss.com .lots of folks there understand...
thinking of you..Jill Moonchilde

JazmenFlowers 02-22-2007 09:41 AM

oh Amber, this is breaking my heart. I'm so sorry. I remember exactly which tree you're talking about (or at least, the tree I'm thinking about) and that really made my eyes well. I'll be thinking of you (and Vinnie) all day.
