Stevie Reparing The Hole In Her Septum
I was just reading that it says Stevie won't repair the hole because it would change her voice. She didn't have a hole in the mid 70's so, if she were to get it repaired, would this make her voice higher pitched???? I dunno, just thought I'd ask, anyone know???
Much Love, Ethan |
A surgery can alter the tone in her nasal cavaity, thus it could change her voice if performed.
Couldnt say if such a procedure would make her pitch higher in register or not, So I am sure Strvie prefers to avoid finding out. |
The hole in the nose has already changed her voice. So it's hard to say what effect fixing it might have on her voice. I'd like to think that it would improve the quality, but I really don't know.

There was a rumour over 20 years ago that Linda Ronstadt ...very much a part of the El Lay cociane cowboy scene of the 1970s (The Eagles had been her backing band) had some type of reconstructive surgery on her septum after her own tooting..If this is true at all one wonders what possesed La Nicks to not get hers done as well in light of how incredible Linda's voice still is.

I'm sure it's nothing that a little Spackle wouldn't help.

It would change her voice dramatically...
And it would take ALOT of something to repair.... I think MacGuyver would use: a staple, some carpet fiber, and dental floss |
Uh...

How would it change her voice? Would it make it higher? If it kept the tone primarily the same, just made her sound a little more youthful (when she could nail the high notes) then perhaps it is something that should maybe looked into

Repairing her nose would hardly affect the pitch of her voice, meaning she shouldn't be able to sing higher or lower after surgery. The damage there is in the cords. However, I would think that fixing her nose--and thus completely changing the way she breathes--would have a noticeable effect on her tone, which has become more and more nasal as time has gone by. Of course, it is impossible to say what that change would be. Remember, she only really started sounding nasal (to my ears, at least) after Street Angel, which was way after she stopped snorting cocaine anyway. I think the key here is that she says that she got a vocal coach after the Dance tour, which is around the same time (between Dance and TiSL) that I noticed her tone sounding thinner and more nasal. So I would blame the new vocal coach more than the hole in her nose--like I said, remember how awesome she sounded on the SA tour? If she finds someone new who could, by teaching her new breathing technique, compromise preserving her voice with not making her sound like she's got a perpetual headcold, that would help way more than surgery, in my humble opinion.
