If Eagles CD is Successful, New FM CD Should Follow

If the Eagles' new studio CD is a success this spring, I really think a new FM studio CD will soon follow. After all, look what happened after the Eagles released their hit live CD in the 90's. FM followed soon after with a similar type CD, which was of course a smash hit. Any thoughts on this?

I think the two are totally irrelevant.

What does Fleetwood Mac's success (album sales or otherwise) have to do with the Eagles? The Eagles havent put out any new material in 25 years. Other than the Hell Freezes Over thing...Fleetwood Mac are light years ahead of them in terms of keeping their "franchise" going I think. Plus some people hate the Eagles (the guy in Big Lebowski!) and like Fleetwood Mac, and vice versa.

Possible...but I dont feel the Eagles OR Fleetwood Mac would do any better in the game if one or the other had officially retired. I dont think the success of The Dance had much to do with Hell Freezes Over. Maybe the idea of it being a semi-unplugged kinda reunion thing was in the same vein, but I think the Mac have popularity all their own without needing the Eagles as a friendly foe.

At this point, you're absloutely right. AOR is dead and there are too many genres of music for any real sort of competitiveness to occur between the two bands. Plus they are all (gasp!) senior citizens now and I think they have evolved into a different stage of their art. It's not about the bling anymore for them, I don't think.

Classic scene in that movie. I loved it when the cab driver threw him out of the car for not liking The Eagles.

Preach it! Competitiveness, definitely not. It's more like, "Can I help you along, my 'old' friend?"

Whether ort not FM will make a new album remains to be seen.

There is something though that has been bothering me . At work one time we were selling this cheap 9.99 mini hardcover books that were about fiffernt eras of music which included 50's,60's,70's,80's and even 90's. Each one had the top 100 best selling albums of that decade. For the 90's They have the Eagles listed for Hell Freezes Over but FM is not listed for The Dance. Something just doesn't make sense to me. Surely FM would have sold more then enough copies.

I caught "Blue Letter". I liked it. Looks like you guys were having fun up there. I envy any musician that can get up there on stage, perform songs they enjoy doing, and get LOTS OF LOVE in the process. I need a new career!

As of 2000, it had sold 5 million copies. That is a very repectable number. Who only knows how many more it has sold 7 years later?

Keep our fingers crossed for it

Well let's hope FM do release a new CD

I would totally agree... I don't either band is really going to gain "new" fans from releasing abums. The music of these bands should passed on generation to generation. My 3 year daughter knows who Stevie is.
