Kansas City, 2/2/07

I'm terrible with remembering details, but I wanted to post a quick review of the KC show.

The first thing that really struck me was how great Lindsey's vocals sounded. I last saw him in Atlantic City back in October (my schedule doesn't allow me to follow him 'round the country anymore), and I remember Not Too Late sounding a bit "weak" vocally. This time, his voice was strong and clear from the first note.

I was back in the 15th row, where not too many people were standing. Until GYOW, it was pretty much me and two or three other women a few seats over. But some audience members behind the 10th row did get on their feet for SHN and IKINW. He was also very chatty, teasing one audience member who yelled "NEVER!" when Lindsey talked about growing up. Then, when he was giving the standard "fight with my wife, she was right" intro to Castaway Dreams, the guy yelled something else, and Lindsey said something like, "see, that was the same guy who said he'd never grow up." And during the intro to Red Rover, he said he needed a new intro because we seemed to have heard the old one before. ;)

He got the whole audience barking during Holiday Road, which was very amusing -- "Bark like a dog! Bark like a dog!"

SMAP! He didn't do this one in Atlantic City, so I was excited to hear it live. The MP3s I have from previous shows do not do the live-in-person SMAP justice. It was sweet and wistful, so much so that three or four couples in my section were slow dancing to it in the aisles!

Shut Us Down was GORGEOUS. I wasn't a big fan of this song, but his live rendition was amazing, especially the last section. It's difficult to describe exactly how beautiful this sounded, so I hope someone caught it. :)

I'm hoping that I get to see a show or two on the next leg, because he seems to get better and better with each show.

Yay!
You did well, little flower, even without me as a partner in crime;-)

I'm so glad you had a nice time.

I was at the KC show....second row middle. We (hubby and me) thought Lindsey sounded much stronger vocally and seemed much happier than when we saw him in Denver in November. He was really into the banter with the crowd....even saying what hotel they were staying in at one point!

The guy who kept yelling 'never' was sitting next to me, on my right. He was there with his wife and another couple....he was alot of fun. He told me he had seen the Mac several times over the years, and at one point during the SYW tour, he landed his small plane next to theirs at an airport. He prompted those around us to (finally) get on their feet during World Turning as well.

We were trying to figure out who was sitting up in the balcony to our right. There were some people up there that Lindsey seemed to look at and point to quite a bit, but didn't look to me like the wife?

Also liked his and Brett's comments after singing a bar of "Kansas City Here We Come" about the fine looking ladies in the area. All in all, a wonderful concert, one of the best we've seen from him. I was glad we finally had a concert 'close to home', or only 3 hours away.

I think I saw those people. As I was leaving, they were still slow dancing in the aisles.

Wow, we were very close then. The guy that was bantering, was right behind me. You must have been next to my sister. Cool!! I was so glad we he jumped up during World Turning! I was on my feet instantly. Didn;t wanna block anyones view.

Hey Farrah! I did see you walking into the lobby area of the venue. I was going to say 'hi' but you were talking with some people and I did not want to interrupt. I love SUD live. I know what you mean about the end part. If you check out the "kansas' thread you will see the YouTube videos of SUD that I took.;)

Lisa,
Yes, my husband was sitting beside your sister. I was actually the one who tapped you on the arm when your sister was yelling at you and couldn't get your attention.

Did anyone hang out after the show to meet him or did he take off quickly??

Farrah 02-04-2007 06:07 PM

It was a toasty -2 outside, so I think that neither I nor Lindsey and band were up for waiting around. ;)

Ah...I keep forgetting. I lived in KC for a while...the winters aren't so fun!

Thank you...

Hello all...

My wife and I travelled through the ice and snow from the Kansas City area to see the Tulsa show.

Two days later, I took my eleven year old son (who plays the guitar and piano) to the Kansas City show. In Kansas City, we were in the fourth row. I would like to thank all of the kind people in the front row who allowed my son to "squeeze in" during GYOW. Everyone treated him so well...I hope he didn't step on any toes as he moved from the right side of the stage to the left. Yes, he did get to strum LB's guitar!!! Thanks for the memories.

gfish

P.S. Did anyone get pics of the crowd strumming his guitar on the left side of the stage? My reaction time with my camera wasn't quite quick enough.

He was a cutey!! My heart broke for him when he was a little late getting to the front the first time. Then he stopped halfway through the front row and I kept nudging him telling him to go on, trying to encourage...lol...he was nervous!!! I was thrilled to see Lindsey go up to him so he could play!!!

g. fish 02-05-2007 03:46 PM

Thank you...

Dear Lisa...

So you were the one that nudged him on??? Thank you so much for the encouragement!!!!!

You're right, he was pretty tentatitve. Honestly, I couldn't believe he decided to cross over to the left side of the stage after he missed out on the right side. I guess his determination overrode his shyness. After the show, I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. What a great evening!!!

Thanks so much,

gfish

Awesome!

Welcome to the Ledge, g. fish! Glad your son got to play the guitar!
