Elizabeth Moore, Winner of Bravo’s First “Top Design” Challenge, Launches “FROOTE”

LOS ANGELES, CA — (MARKET WIRE) — February 01, 2007 — Elizabeth Moore, winner of the first challenge on Bravo’s new TV show, “Top Design,” which premiered last night, announces the launch of her company, “FROOTE.”After years of designing sets for music icons including Prince, Stevie Nicks, Lenny Kravitz and Jessica Simpson and brands like Nike and Coke, as well as providing interior design services for other entertainment industry clients, Moore’s new products bring her style to people everywhere.

Moore’s design career began when rock icon Prince hired her in 1984 as his wardrobe stylist on the “Purple Rain” tour. After endless days of transforming his dressing rooms into art installations, creating shoe spirals and boa festoons, Prince requested that Moore expand her talents. He soon had her decorating his stage and designing his after-hours parties across the United States. Rumor has it Moore was the inspiration for the song “Raspberry Beret.” “I was constantly wearing this raspberry beret during the ‘Purple Rain’ tour, and always bumping my head while going ‘in through the out door,’” she says.

Fruit has been a recurring element in Moore’s life, which is why she chose as her company name, “Froote.” (which means “fruit” in Dutch). Several years ago, Moore reluctantly followed the advice of her father, whose taste is more conservative than hers, and created a series of paintings of fruit. To her surprise, the showing of her series of “pear paintings” in New York was a huge success and later inspired her to create the “Pear Lady” logo she now uses for Froote. “‘Froote’ represents the sweet life to me,” Moore comments. “That could be anything from luxurious pillows to objects of art that make you smile. I just want to make things that help people feel good and express who they are.”

FROOTE is launching with the introduction of several products designed by Elizabeth Moore, including:

-- Made-to-order Concept Chairs that give a twist to traditional
wingback chairs and include The Grandma Chair that bears a photographic
image of her 90-year-old grandmother; The Pet Me Chair that features a
graphic Elizabeth created from a photo she took of a lamb at a state
fair petting zoo. (This goes well with her wallpaper with Little Bo
Peeps wearing sunglasses.); The Garden Chair that was inspired by a
dream; and The Skeleton Chair, which exemplifies the inner world and
shows us the inside structure.
-- One-of-a-kind jewelry created by Moore, using semi-precious
stones, freshwater pearls and other gifts from Mother Nature.
-- Wallpaper that features everyday items that have been transformed
into whimsical graphic patterns.
-- Pillows with minimal, clean lines and fanciful, graphic patterns.“I take visual inspiration and I deconstruct its meaning to find a new form,” explains Moore, whose eclectic design style is often described as lyrical, elegant and refined.
