Lindsey makes Mojo Magazine list!
From Nathrach at Seven Wonders:
"Under the Skin" came in 36th in Mojo Magazine's 50 Best Albums of 2006 list. From the magazine: "Stung by Fleetwood Mac's recluctance to make another record, 57-year-old Buckingham made this solo album, his first in 14 years, in hotel rooms on their last tour. Spare arrangements, intimate ambiance, candid lyrical themes. A revelation. Standout track: Not Too Late." He's also mentioned in the "Best thing I've Heard All Year" section: "I love The Eraser by Thom Yorke. I don't listen to a lot of new music when I'm making a recond. I'm working in a very limited world. But Thom Yorke is always doing something new and inspiring. For me, over the past few years, listening to Radiohead has really helped keep my belief system going." |

I posted the full list in the thread below, if anyone's interested but was too lazy to write out the text (I'm rubbish I know). :o I'm sorry about that and thanks Christy for posting it here http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=30227 |

Still, they're wrong. Shut Us Down is the standout track. |

Still I think without a doubt Lindsey released this album to appeal to a different kind of audience and to get some kind of long-awaited critical acclaim and he's achieved just that. As that mention shows, Not Too Late is definitely the song critics have picked up on and in a positive way too. No wonder he's chosen it as the album's flagship song. |
Crap!
Sorry about the repeat thread, Sharon. :( I looked it up in the Search, but nothing came up.
I also giggled when I read the NTL thing. Heh. |

I just thought I'd post the link so people can see where Lindsey ranked  |

I think they would produce some fantastic music together, no??? I love LB's taste in music to listen to. |

Would you please try to desribe the similarity in approach? I don't know much about Thom's approach, but he doesn't seem like a recordingfreak that builds his songstructures by layering, "cut and paste fragments of ideas" to construct a song. That's the ugliest sentence I've written in a long time...but do you catch my drift? BTW; I'd love it if they worked together. |

But I see similiarities in their approach to music-making as a whole. In that they both don't want to try to recreate some "commercial" sound. They both want to be innovative and make left turns with their music. I also see parallels between their personalities. I'll copy this from Thom's biography: "Yorke has explained in various interviews that he dislikes the 'mythology' he feels is endemic within the rock genre, and hates the media's obsession with celebrity. In interviews, he does not seem to be particularly taken with the idea of being famous, or even show that he feels it is necessary that he is asked questions about his music. Despite his efforts to downplay his status, he is still looked upon as one of the most important musicians of his time."and this: Yorke has claimed never to listen to Radiohead records after they are released, and it appears this will be the case for the forthcoming album. "I will dread listening to it all after we have left in the real world. I always dread that. I'd much rather start something new and forget," Yorke recently wrote in Radiohead's blog. Now, we know LB listens to albums, but as of late, doesn't he seem to have the same sort of attitude towards his music? He seems to want to move forward and get out new music and "forget" some of his older solo material. Yorke is much more computer-savvy than LB though. He likes to use Pro Tools to edit his music. Can you imagine what would happen if Lindsey and him were let loose in a studio together? I don't know, I just think it'd be wonderful. |

I just love the idea of putting him together with people like that. Although I'm sure Lindsey can be tough to work with. |
