thanks, a nice read, although the guy doesn't do a lot with the fascinating title of the article... |
That was a really great article. Although I sometimes have to have a dictionary with me when I read anything he says, I love the way Lindsey expresses himself. He always sounds so GD intelligent and eloquent, and that was sooooo cute with the mention of his daughter.

Gerald, don't you think it's fantastic that this guy totally gets Not Too Late, lyrically at least.
"You probably shouldn't read your own reviews," he concedes playfully, his pervasive humour counteracting an impression of self-absorption. Thank you Neil McCormick! He then goes on to say more... The songs are rich and melodic, but there is a rawness to the content that it is almost embarrassing in its emotional intimacy. On Not Too Late, having laid the intensity of his hunger for artistic validation on the line, he concludes: "My children look away, they don't know what to say." "You can get into this area where you define your life so specifically and so narrowly and so strongly, where all your motivations are in the past, and they are not all noble," says Buckingham. "Then suddenly you have these children looking up at Dad in the studio going 'What's wrong with him?' It brings you down to earth." I find it strange how many fans here don't like this song, because obviously it's drawing a lot of discussion in the press, and from what I've seen most of it positive. |
"There is a thing that happens when you try to work outside the perception people have of you,".
"You don't find a lot of support. So you can be extremely visible, yet all the subtext of who you are is almost deliberately overlooked." What a Quote !!!! Love It |

I said that thing about the press before, but I was shouting in a desert. What really struck me that this guy underlines what I said earlier about the production of the vocals on this album. I assumed that it all became so personal it got embarrassing; he needed the production to create some distance towards the listener-maybe even himself. On the liveperformances he also gets INYOURFACE alot. On a studio-album that can be scary and intimidating. Here goes the quote of Neil McCormick: Quote:
