Rhiannon Live in '75 (SHE'S WEARING PANTS)

I love that Largo concert. One of my faves.

TheWILDheart 01-04-2007 03:26 PM

What was the first tour actually called? It looks pretty well done so me is thinking they were gonna release a video or something?

bikerchic 01-04-2007 03:32 PM

Ho **** man. That was sick.

I don't think the tour had a title. And I'm not sure about the vid. You have to remember that most people didn't have VCRs or laserdisc players in the 70's, so I doubt it.

I honestly think they filmed shows during every tour - not sure why. And many were at Largo/Landover for some reason - perhaps the venue was set up for it? Dunno. Examples of pro-shot tour vids (aside from the commercially released ones):

This one (Largo 1975)
Tusk rehearsals (3 sessions)
Mac Largo 1979
Mac Us Fest 1982 (have only seen brief clips of this though, I don't think the whole show has ever surfaced)
Stevie UsFest 83
Stevie Largo 83
Stevie San Jose 89
Stevie & Friends 2001 (we had no clue it was filmed at all, until that really brief clip pooped up at the beginning of the SYW Desitny Rules doc. Full pro-shot show hasn't surfaced as far as I'm aware.)

What am I missing, guys?

Not to mentions all the bootleg videos out there, from '83 on. I'm shocked (and annoyed) that there are no boot vids from the '82 tour, since video cameras were way more common at that time. God knows there's plenty of boot audio from that tour.

Correct me if I am wrong.......
There was also a Rumours Tour concert filmed in Largo as well......
Right?

I honestly can't remember. :o But you just reminded me of the Young Music Show from Japan, from the Rumours tour.

There's the footage of the Japanese tour too, for some TV show (the Young Music festival?) That has a particularly awesome Gold Dust Woman.
I heard that Stevie shot the 89 San Jose show to give to those working on the tour.

Yeah, and they also recorded a Tusk concert there and one of Stevie's Wild Heart shows.

What was with their Largo fetish, anyway?

Well, the Youtube clip you posted is from Largo, Maryland 1975. This show does exist on video - I think it's the full show, if I recall correctly. Great performances all around.

Rosebud is a documentary-type video with several live performances from '75, including the famous Rhiannon. Also from this era - Mac did Why, Over My Head & Rhiannon on the Midnight Special TV show. You'll find these performances on most fan-made compilation tapes.

Young Music Show was filmed for Japanese TV in '77. Includes GDW and.....crap, I forget. It's been a long time since I've watched these. :o

Tusk rehearsals are OK - the other Rhiannon you posted is from one of those. Most shots are so far away, though. :(

Largo '79 is good too, but the picture is very very dark. Hard to make out details like clothing & such. But the Tusk tour is one of my favorites, so I love it. This vid made me fall in love with Save Me a Place. I never liked it before, but after seeing & hearing them do the 3 part harmonies together, I melted. Chris plays acoustic guitar on it too!

Us Fest 82 has never surfaced  , but we know it was recorded due to seeing news clips on several compilation tapes that fans have made over the years.

Stevie Largo 83 isn't complete, it cuts out after Gyspy (I think.) Great show, though. This one's also a little dark.

As Sharon said, Stevie San Jose '89 was supposedly filmed as a gift to her band & crew on that tour. Not my favorite tour, but there's some good stuff on it.

Stevie & Friends 2000 vid has never surfaced as far as I know - which is a shame, because I'd love to see acoustic Gypsy. 2001 is around, a bootleg vid. Like I said, the only reason we know that pro-shot footage exists is from that little clip in the Destiny Rules DVD. EDIT: I'm a moron, it's 2000 that's around on bootleg vid, so apparently I have seen acoustic Gypsy. Duh. I don't believe 2001 is on bootleg vid, but the clip in DR is from the 2001 show. So dammit, it's gotta exist!

strandinthewind 01-04-2007 04:36 PM

I saw the 2001 one I think - was that with Chris Issak?

Yeah. Wait. No. Crap. Maybe.

2000 was Don Henley, Sheryl & Lindsey. Don did Boys of Summer acoustic, Sheryl & Stevie dueted on Difficult Kind (I love it) and SN&LB did acoustic Gypsy. Can't remember if Chris was there or not. I'm almost positive he was in 2001, the one with LB Natalie Maines. No wait, isn't Solitary Man from 2000? Goddammit!
