on the outside looking in

It's going to be hard to explain this, but I'm gonna give it a shot. Pretty much my whole life I've grown up having this very independent streak and refusing to conform to trends and such. On the one hand, I'm very comfortable in my own skin and dont feel beholden to being what others think I should be, other times I find myself wanting more acceptance. I dunno, I thought to myself this morning, I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not. Ugh, the inner conflicts of life!

You shouldn't have to change who you are just becuase someone has a problem with it --Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City.

Oh yes  The only people who hate you for who you really are always turn out to be assholes, and you didn't want them to like you anyway. If you pretend to be something you're not, you never have any real idea who likes you and who doesn't  And acceptance is pretty bogus - you think you might want it but when you get it, you find it's bloody useless anyway

It's when you don't like yourself that ya need to start worrying and looking for change  If you're happy and content with who you are then screw those who don't like it!!

david. I have always loved that saying and have "tried" to stick to it. Im sure its great and dandy at the top but if someone cant accept you for you-then do you really want to be friends with someone like that? I sure dont. :)

P.S. You're not alone. I feel on the outside looking in sometimes too :xoxo:

The hardest thing sometimes is not being pulled one way or the other by all the advertising that's on tv about whats hot and not and what were all supposed to like these days according to the marketing whizzes!
