Huge Breakthrough In Diabetes Research

As my 16 year old son has suffered from Type 1 diabetes for four years now (injections three times a day), this breakthrough is huge. I am weeping right now.

Here is the article: This is HUGE.

I had "borderline" gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my son (I am not diabetic). I just had to change my diet and it was under control. I did not have it with my second child though. This breakthrough will lead to early testing for the onset of Type 1 diabetes for my daughter and will also help research in other diseases.

The doctor that discovered this breakthrough is from Sick Kids Hospital here in Toronto and he is all over the Canadian news right now!!! He is so enthusiastic that he is crying tears of joy! You are right, this is so HUGE :blob1:

wow...thank you so much for posting this. several members in my family suffer from diabetes -- my father, both grandfathers, two uncles, and my nana included. we just had another member diagnosed a few weeks back and i fear i'll end up with it, as i do have a very weak immune system.

this is really amazing news.

Wow, sorry to hear about your family  Not only are they hoping that this discovery will be able to test family members of diabetics for the onset, they are saying that this breakthrough could actually reverse the disease in type 1 patients. They are going to start clinical studies on humans as soon as January and hopefully have a cure in 2 years. I can't believe this! My Christmas came early this year! If I could only ask for one thing for Christmas for the rest of my life, it would be for my son to be cured of this horrible disease.

This is wonderful news. I really am glad to hear it, because in an indirect way, I work for diabetics....

That's good news. My beautiful and better half Debbie (She's the Queen, I'm her bitch  ) is a type 2 diabetic and I have seen her suffer through it.
