Vote for the new 7 wonders (of the world)
Apparently since just about all of the old ones have long since been destroyed, new ones are going to be selected. You can vote here:
http://www.new7wonders.com/index.php What are your choices? |
I'm going off the board.... my vote: ME!! :wavey:
|
Most of the nominees I don't consider "wonders".
The originial 7 were wonders for a reason. Just because some of them have deteriorated, doesn't mean they are not wonders anymore. |

I mean just acres and acres of beautiful white sand dunes... http://www.sacredsites.com/americas/...Sands_01_H.jpg The Eiffel Tower?? Not so much. |

The Great Wall of China? Machu Picchu? Angkor Wat? Petra? Stonehenge? Roman Colosseum? Egyptian Pyramids? Acropolis? Easter Island heads? Man, if you dont think THOSE things are wonders then you must be hard to impress  Im having a hard time picking. National Loyalty compels me to at least consider the Statue of Liberty but really it isnt a "wonder" like the above mentioned....its terribly sentimental to me tho.....and Ive got 6 others to vote my conscience with..... |

I live for the day your armpit has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. |
Okay, putting forward the Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, and Sydney Opera House as "wonders" is just plain absurd.

I'm afraid that the Statue of Liberty will make the list, because I figure most of the voters will be American. It's not a wonder. We know where it came from and how it was made. The purpose behind it is spectacular...the statue itself? It's okay. It's a pigeon nest. |
I just got to thinking....
So long ago
Certain time Certain place You touched my hand All the way All the way down to emmiline But if our paths never cross Well you know Im sorry but If I live to see the seven wonders Ill make a path to the rainbows end Ill never live to match the beauty again The rainbows end So its hard to find Someone with that kind of intensity You touched my hand I played it cool And you reached out your hand for me But if our paths never cross Well you know Im sorry but If I live to see the seven wonders Ill make a path to the rainbows end Ill never live to match the beauty again The rainbows end So long ago Its a certain time Its a certain place You touched my hand and you smiled All the way back you held out your hand If I hope and I pray Ooh it might work out someday If I live to see the seven wonders Ill make a path to the rainbows end Ill never live to match the beauty again The rainbows end If I live to see the seven wonders Ill make a path to the rainbows end Ill never live to match the beauty again If I live to see the seven wonders Ill make a path to the rainbows end Ill never live to match the beauty again :wavey: |
Well, If i was forced, by gun point only, to chose....
Here are my selections The Acropolis The Roman Colosseum Statues of Easter Island The Great Wall of China Machu Picchu The Pyramids of Giza Stonehenge I was at a crossroad for 'The Great Wall' and the 'Taj Mahal' But, for its sheer length alone, the Wall took it! |

there are a lot of things I think are wonders in the US, but I think most Americans are sentimental about Lady Liberty, at least I know I am--I always choke up when I see her........ so, here are my choices: Stonehenge (my absolute, hands down number ONE choice) Petra (anyone else besides me floored by the sheer beauty and impossibility of this structure?) Roman Colosseum (a worthy candidate) Great Wall of China (come ON, this is awesome!!) Pyramids (werent they already one of the Seven Wonders?) Machu Picchu (such a mystery ....) and because Im a sentimental fool: Statue of Liberty (which is NOT a wonder but IS nevertheless WonderFUL) |

Should be interesting to see how this turns out...! |
