Fav New Versions of Songs On UTS Tour

Title's a bit long, but no matter! I was just wondering what songs you guys like most either reworked or not heard live in a long time on the tour. My personal favs were (in no particular order)

"Show You How" - I love it so much more live for some reason, his voice is much different on it live and i just love the way he does it. And I am a huge sucker for the panpipe outro... ;)

"Bleed To Love Her" - ONe of the earliest FM songs i ever heard (I was 7 when the dance came out) and my parents used to play it, so sentimental value and also the acoustic-ness of it and the slightly different bridge melody really help you see it in a new way

My Fav, "World Turning" - The VERY best part is when Brett starts playing the samples and at the very end with all the different samples playing it really makes you wanna get up and move! :]

Anyone else got any they like?

I died when he played Save Me a Place the way he did. It was absolutely breathtaking. I have to say, better than the album version.

Oooh yeah i forgot about that one, that was beautiful. it was actually one of the few FM songs i didnt care for until i heard it done live this way, its so melodic

Yeppers. Also think Trouble was even better than on Soundstage and I'm So Afraid worked well rearranged. Holiday Road and BTLH (with Lindsey dodging the highest notes for understandable reasons) were also highlights. The rest was pretty much as usual, but it all benefited from being stripped down.

Yeah, i love the stripped down-ness of it all. Although he still gts the led out on IKINW! My parents were pretty impressed with how much he can rock out, they are used to FM folky Lindsey and seeing him live i think changed that a bit;)

I think seeing LB live in general impressed a ton of people. While walking out of each show, I recall seeing/hearing people just talking about how they were "blown away" and "didn't expect him to be that good", etc. And I took a friend to one of his shows and I think she's been converted into a major LB fan now.

My apologies for my vulgarity, but the reworked I'm So Afraid made me wet. Yep. So yeah, that's my favourite new version on the UTS tour. ;)

Well, that one and the new take on IKINW made me hard. Shall we meet?

Hmm, I'm sorry too.

I'm a big advocate of 'less is more' so I particularly loved the stripped down version of Trouble. Word Turning sounded great also, a teaspoon of Lindsey weirdness added at the end was a great touch. And I love Taku, so there you go. :)

Well clearly there's no need for apologies here, darling. It appears we're on the same page.

Agreed. I loved World Turning on this tour.

I also think these were fantastic live:

It Was You
Save Me A Place
Second Hand News
Castaway Dreams
IKINW!!!!!

Others that are better on CD:

Red Rover
Show You How
Under The Skin

...btw....I didn't like the new ISA arrangement. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

wondergirl9847 11-24-2006 09:08 PM

I probably don't even need to say this, but...

ISA...the new arrangement is frickin' AMAZING. The darker the better.

Castaway Dreams was great live and I loved World Turning on this tour too. The Under the Skin vocals were always drowned out by the instruments and on Castaway Dreams at times too.

IKINW was soooo fun and SHN never fails to make people wanna get up and shake it. SMAP was always gorgeous and it was a treat to hear it in person. Red Rover made me cry at that second Chicago show. It was so beautiful that night.

Another one that I loved singing along with...It Was You. Shouting and clapping when he said his kids' names was so much fun. He loved it. :)
