Different "I Know I'm Not Wrong"?
 

I saw this on amazon.com:

So, was there another version of IKINW on the vinyl one? Surely there wouldn't be? Seems very confusing to me.

I know there is an alternate version on the Tusk Expanded but i dont know if it would be the same as Tusk on vinyl

The vinylversion of IKINW is definately different from all CD-releases. And for me....still the ultimate version, although I haven't heard it for years, due to the lack of a turntable, that I plan to reinstall again in the near future.

I wonder why it was changed for the CD release then :shrug: Seems strange. Be great to hear.

I have the vinyl and a turntable. When my dad gets out of the hospital, I'll listen to it, and tell you guys something about it.

To my ears the CD version sounds exactly like the vinyl version, except the vinyl version does not have the background vocal arrangements on the "Don't blame me... please be strong" part of the chorus. I think the b/g vocals adds makes it quirkier; I definitely prefer the CD version. :nod:

I was surprised the alternate mix was included on the recent remaster/reissue. I had assumed the original vinyl mix would be restored to the main CD and that the alternate mix would be included on the second disc.

Since the band had to listen to and approve these remastered discs, I wonder if Lindsey prefers that alternate mix to the original. :confused:

I'm also kind of surprised that no one's ever ripped the original version from a cassette source, so that we could have a clean, hiss & pop-free mp3 of it.

There's some different instrumentation in the mix, too. The original album version is a little more bare-bones.

I think i actually prefer the alternate Tusk Expanded version myself, i dont know why. Although the best has to be the recent live versions, no doubt!

The CD version also features background vocals that don't appear on the vinyl version. It sounds like Stevie, but this has never been confirmed. Lindsey sings pretty high in this song, so it could be him. If you listen to the last verse starting at 1:56, you'll notice the new vocals.

I'm thinking it wasn't even that thought out. It could have simply been a case of the record company sending whatever master tapes they had to the producers. A similar thing happened when Stevie's Enchanted box set was released and contained different mixes of all the Street Angel tracks. Someone later asked ICE Magazine about this, and they explained that when the producers requested the tracks from Atlantic, they got tracks from the early unreleased Street Angel sessions.

Sorry this recording isn't better. I found these online somewhere, I believe the first one is the original mix of I Know I'm Not Wrong, while the second is the extra added material from the CD remix.

The Tusk CD remix is basically the original mix in one channel (left or right, I don't remember) with all the extra stuff (drums, background vocals, other instruments) on the other. Listen to the two tracks I've uploaded here and you can really tell the difference.

Cool! How many of this fab trash is out there? Put this aside of the three versions on the remaster, put a FM-tusktourrehearsalversion, a FM-2004 and a LB2006version upon that and we have a fullblown IKINW-album with totally different tracks on it!!!! Thanks for posting!...and yes....The first version you put here is still my fave: more space and that delicate high vocal: so much emotion!

Great! It was annoying that the track I like the most had been changed on the CD. And it was no improvement. My turntable doesn't work so it`s been a couple of years that I haven`t been able to listen to the original track.
