I bought my ticket earlier today- Row F.

Haven't been to the Newmark yet, but I've heard a lot of great things about it. It's in the same complex as Schnitzer- the entrance is right around the corner, right by the South Park Blocks.

Who else is going??

Home from the show

I just got back from the show! Lindsey was fantastic. He started the show off slow, and then it really took off! Mostly people stayed seated, as it was a small theatre (880 people). I liked the mix of songs, but I wanted something from my favorite album: Out of the Cradle. No luck. Tusk, Go Insane, and Big Love are always my faves, and I was happy to hear the new stuff. I think the highlight was Holiday Road, for sure. At the beginning Lindsey said that we should help with the end of the song. It was the guys barking, and the audience wasn't playing along. Hopefully we didn't disappoint Lindsey. He said "see ya next year" as he left, so that's good sign. Speaking of signs, there was an INSANE FOR LINDSEY gal a couple rows ahead of me, who used her banner to block my view.

The merch booth was pleasing, except they didn't provide shopping bags. I had to carry my goodies along with my coat, etc. but it worked out okay. It just makes stage-rushing difficult, which didn't even happen. You would have thought someone had told these security guards that the Beatles were playing! They really kept the crowd in check, as if that had been necessary.

It was really nice, except for the crazy security guards and VOLUNTEER ushers, who, apparently were punishing and then confiscating the cameras of some of the guests. I was scolded early on for using my camera (it wasn't posted anywhere that cameras weren't allowed) but snuck a few pics. They turned out blurry because I wasn't using flash.

I was lucky to meet a new friend, and fellow Ledgie DesertAngel before the show and she told me where the tour bus was. We waited in line and got a chance to meet Lindsey and get his autograph and photos! In the one I took of DesertAngel, Lindsey actually looked at the camera! (Sorry about the flash!) And DesertAngel, the one you got of Lindsey signing for me is wonderful! Although, Lindsey didn't look too thrilled to be signing all those CD covers. ;-P

I spotted Lindsey's wife, Kristen, who looked like Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars). She was tiny and blonde. Also, Brett spoke to me about my hair, and agreed to a photo. I guess Neal popped in at the last second. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...d/P1010010.jpg[/IMG]

Overall it was a great experience, and worth the $45 for the ticket. After all, I'm sure we've all paid $100+ to see Stevie (c'mon, admit it). Anyhow, if anyone got any video/audio clips, I'd love to see/hear them!!!!!!!!

Yeah! WTF was up with that? Especially during Go Your Own Way, on the left side of the stage... when Lindsey leaned down to let the fans play the guitar, that woman rushed in to put a stop to it. It's funny you made the Beatles reference- I was actually thinking the same thing as it was happening... haha

I love the picture, Chrystal! You look very cute with Brett and I love how Neal looks all surprised in the background.

ChrystalGypsey 11-17-2006 12:32 PM

LukeA, where were you sitting? I was behind the 2 girls who got to play the guitar. (E 31)

And golden braid, "thank you". (I look very white!) My hair is over 5 feet long and Brett wanted to know what kind of conditioner I used! What a flirt :D

nix4life 11-17-2006 08:22 PM

wow what a show huh??

and yah the super uptight security on the left side of the stage was nuts -
the security lady would reach up and pull peoples hands down from reaching at lindsey and his ax (the whole time she had her back to lindsey ) and he would just go to the other side of her and lean to the people there -
i was in the last row of the first balcony and so i could see the white shirts of the security on the sides of the floor - as soon as they saw someone's cell phone light they would practically dive accross the row to get them to stop -

but HE of course was awesome -
so many highlights -
-the new tusk
-holiday road
-it was you
-so afraid welled up my eyes - it just builds and builds and roils and boils and by the time the boys are climaxing ( ) you realize that the whole venue is going nuts screaming but you can't hear the screams over THAT TONE - you can just see peoples faces screamin -
-his sense of humor
-his casual walk onto the stage and puttin his hands to his eyes to see if we were indeed out there at the beginning
-the funny fuk up during the vocal end to second hand news - still not sure what happened there - maybe brett accidently bumped his keyboard with his guitar and it started playin something prerecorded for a diff song? or maybe he just temporarily lost his mind and was playing crazy chords -

Has anyone ever seen a picture of the palm of lindsey's right hand?
im thinking there must be a mutant finger or two growing under there that he is to shy to show but would explain his amazing playing

and about half way through the show i had this uncontrollable urge to yell
"Rhiannon" -    :] :]
i know i know
i would have been jumped but omg would it be funny!!!!!

but instead at the end i yelled for steal your heart away -
i didn't get it this time - but he said "i'll see ya next year " so maybe i'll get it then -

one tiny itsy bitsy complaint - nothing from out of the cradle still ;( -
thought maybe he would have added something from there by now -

oh and what about during the introductions - taku - lindsey's "new favorite drummer"
made me chuckle inside where it counts -

Hey Christy :wavey: that picture turned out fabulous! Isn't it funny how Neal jumped in there?! After I took the picture, I was cracking up... pointed at him and said "Cute!" He said something like "Thanks! I try." He and Brett seem like fun guys. They have fun on stage too. Brett smiled at the girls several times during the show. Good for them! That picture was taken after we got our Lindsey autographs. He was working the rest of the crowd (only about 20 or 30 people) and we were having fun with Brett and Neal. :)

So I'm just gonna do a little free association here...

As nix4life mentioned, I, too, liked how Lindsey took the stage. It was very non-chalant. It was a defining moment that made my throat swell. Some of Lindsey's speeches were a little hard to follow, mostly because of the way he spoke. It was like he was really fried... trying ... to... find... the ... words. I'm sitting there thinking... c'mon dude, spit it out already! Did he do that at all the shows? Was he really tired from the tour, or maybe he was being intellectual? I really liked the poem and was impressed by the way he recited it.

The audience stood for the last few songs, the whole time, which I thought was nice, particularly after sitting for so long. The lady who shouted out Soul Drifter was in the autograph mob after the show. When he was signing her item, she said "I wanted you to play Soul Drifter." Lindsey said "Oh, was that you?" I think that pretty much ended that conversation.

And yeah, that one volunteer usher lady on the left was a regular Roller Derby queen. I think a few people are gonna be bruised after what she did to them. One poor guy that got karate chopped was only using his cell phone to take a picture. People seated towards the middle of the rows were taking flash pictures. She didn't bother trying to dive over 25 people to bash those people's arms. You could tell she wanted to, the way she was looking over there. ...freak. :]

Let's see, what else... Lindsey is kinda funny with his jokes and puns. Particularly the ones surrounding Holiday Road... about joining him at the end of the song and how some people may have felt a bit degraded (was that the word he used-?) after singing along to that... you know, the barking part. I bet he uses the same jokes at every show. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I think it's good to make a connection with the audience, how ever you have to do it. When he was doing one of the slower songs, don't remember which, Neal was rocking back and forth to the beat as he was playing and once or twice he leaned waaay over to the side, like... ready to fall over because the pace was so slow... that made me giggle.

I really enjoyed hearing the new songs and loved that he added little tidbits about what they represent or what the inspiration was. Under the Skin, where everything grows... he said something it's about how everything you need to deal with life is right under your skin. I thought that was profound and weird, in a fascinating sort of way, because it's a glimpse into how his mind works. Certainly nothing like unicorns and fairies. He also talked about how Cast Away Dreams was written after he and Kristen had a disagreement during the SYW tour. Hmmm... I wonder if that was when they were spotted shopping at that high end jewelry store. He said something like it was about coming to terms with the fact that some idea, dream or plan that he had was not going to happen. ??? So I go home, re-read the lyrics and can't help but try and speculate. Then I figure maybe it's just more press.

So, did Kristen go to every show on the tour? And where are the kids the whole time she's out on the road with Lindsey?

I don't think it's a bad thing that he's been emphasizing his domestic life during this tour thing. It's where he's at and he's communicating that to the people who are listening. They all do it. It's expected. It's just that when you're "following" him like we do, it might seem over-emphasized after the 20th time. Thank God he didn't jump on Craig's couch!! So that's my response to that other thread about "what has happened to Lindsey" I'm just being lazy and putting it here instead.

Anyway, after the show, when Kristen came out the back door to get in the van, she came out just seconds before Lindsey, several people yelled "Kristen!!" I turned around and saw her walk quickly to the van, which was only steps away. She had her head kinda down, her arms folded and kinda hunched over. Does she not care for the whole fan thing?

Several people yelled "Lindsey!!" too, which I thought was sorta odd, but whatever. Security was emphatic about people forming a single line while we were waiting, but that all went to hell once LB came out. It turned into a mob, which was unfortunate. It probably would have been less stressful on Lindsey if people had stayed in a single line. Just my opinion. That's how they do it for the Goo Goo Dolls. Security will toss anyone who gets out of line. It goes faster that way and the guys will even briefly chat people up. Lindsey did look and act a bit stressed by the situation. (see attached photo)

Two things I noticed as I was standing right next to Lindsey, he's not that tall, but I'll bet he used to be taller ... and his eyes are freaking AWESOME! Pictures do not do that man's eyes justice at ALL!! Lord have mercy!

Oh... and they all looked like they were Rockin the Mystic Tan. I guess that's a good thing. One wouldn't want to come off as being pasty and ill looking. Or like you live in the Rainforest/Northwest.

That's enough of my free association. I won't go into detail about each of the songs cuz there wasn't really anything any different that hasn't already been shared in this forum.

Anything I've written in this post is up for discussion... feel free.
