Have they sold more than 100 million albums?
 

Michael Jackson, a virtual recluse since his acquittal of child molestation charges in June 2005, will make a rare public appearance at an awards ceremony in London next month, organizers said on Monday.

The U.S. pop star is due to receive the Diamond Award designed to honor artists who have sold more than 100 million albums. Previous recipients include Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Bon Jovi and Celine Dion

Have Fleetwood Mac received this award? I don't know. But if not, maybe they have not sold more than 100 million albums though.. I find hard to believe they sold less than Mariah Carey.

I want to say they did receive a diamond award or some type of award for Rumours, but I'm not sure about albums overall.

For some reason I think it's around 90 million?

I was looking for information about this on the internet, and it says that the diamond award is for albums that have sold over 10 million copies, not 100 million. If this is the case then Fleetwood Mac definitely has at least one, because Rumours has sold over 30 million copies.

This is for the US ONLY. 10 million units shipped = Diamond. FM would have received that award for Rumours - but it would only have been based on the US sales and the award would have been given by the RIAA - which has jurisdiction over the US only. In Canada for instance, you only have to sell or ship 1 million copies in order to qualify for a Diamond award, which Rumours qualifies twice over, selling or shipping 2 million in Canada. Each country has different criteria for certification levels.

But this is an awards show in the UK. What they are basing their info on for these artists, who knows. There is no independent body like the RIAA that oversees world wide sales figures for albums - that's why nobody really knows how much Rumours has sold world wide. Warners might have an idea, by being in touch with each arm of the company, in different countries around the world. But to get a true tally, you'd have to go to each country it was released in, look at each record company (warners) that released it in that particular country, and audit those records.
