Stevie's take on UTS

I had mentioned on the Rumours board that I just watched the Destiny Rules doc again.

That got me thinking of Stevie's take on Lindsey's new album. He wouldn't have done it if they had all agreed on the double album vs single album -there would have been another FM album and tour. I guess it all works out for the best...

I love this album. I don't say that lightly...I mean he's really still got it...the goods. He's still so valid even though it's all so personal.

I just wonder how Stevie took this album. Personally, I think she probably loves it. I'm sure parts of it hurts...because she knows that she's a part of driving him insane all those years but must feel good now that he has so much peace and love...and that he's a different person. Plus I see this being more her speed...I think she fears his rock side...that scathing sarcasm he's so good at...but this quiet, mellow side...I bet she really digs it! I can see her having someone get her the cd and her listening to it completely alone...

I can't wait until the 07 tour if it happens ( please, please, please) and how they will be together. I mean it's all so fake but there are some real things going on underneath.

Know what else? I mean these guys are getting close to 60...what if Stevie and Lindsey never make another song together...they never ever really helped each other on their solo albums-so that was it? Never another Lindsey/Stevie composition??

I feel like there's a deep rift between them. like...deep. there is a sadness in Liddy that I had only seen in Stevie for a long time.

I think you're right that Stevie probably likes and appreciates this album.

and the thought of them not working together again is more than I can take.

they'll work again. although I'd rather see more Lindsey solostuff, because the man proved again he's still capable off pushing borders. I think Stevie can't cope with experiment anymore. A pity.

Do you think he's like, "F***! It's really over."? After all this time of writing songs of yearing, of forbidden love, of saying it's over....it actually is finally over.

I think the album reflects a lot happiness....but I still sense an underlying sadness....I guess that will never go away.

Then that's that.

To quote John Lennon: "Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans".

It's that simple.

Jazmen, I agree with you in part.
I agree there is a sadness in Lindsey now which has been with Stevie for a long time.
But I don't think there's a deep rift. On the contrary, I think there is a deep and mature understanding between them now which (I think) is reflected in the title track of UTS which is a very intimate song of understanding - both someone else's and your own sadness. In some ways UTS (the song) is a more mature version of the sentiment first expressed in I know I'm not wrong.

I think Stevie probably does like the CD very much. Although it is obviously a celebration of family and new found happiness, under the skin, as it were, there is something for Stevie too. What exactly it is, only the two of them know, but it's there, in my opinion. And the more I listen to the songs, the more I hear it.

As for the stage shows, I would just say this, while they are performers, neither is an actor.

And, don't worry guys, they'll record together again!
