Stupid stuff you say to/sing to/do with your pets....

As I was singing to Clancy earlier this evening whilst trying to take a picture of her with a sock on her head I wondered what other Ledgies to their poor furry friends?

What names to you call them? Do you sing to them etc...and does the stuff you do make as little sense as the stuff I do/say?

Mostly I make up songs...and actually I don't make them up so much as change lyrics...

My favorite is the classic Beatle tune "And I Love Her" redone:

"I give her all my wuv...that's all I dooooo..and if you saw my moo you'd wuv her tooo....and I wuv moo...."

Or this little ditty to the tune of "She'll Be Comin' 'Round the Mountain":

She's a moo and I wuv her, yes I dooo....She's a moo and I wuv her yes I do...she's a moo and I wuv her...I wuv her and she's moo...she's a moo and I wuv her yes I do."

I know what you're thinking - that I've totally missed my calling as a song-writer :p

Anyway - moo. I don't know where that came from but it's taken on a life of its own.

So share....or am I the only one who continually makes an ass out of myself with their pet?

yeah - I'm pretty sure every dog I know has major identity issues as I don't think I've heard any of them called by their actual names

Our cats...

get new nick-named almost on a daily basis:

Example: Gilligan (Our dark orange long haired male cat who is recovering from paralysis-He's walking very good by the way)-Crippled Nuts, Butt Monkey, Monkey Boy, The Turd-burglar, Numb-nuts, Hop-a-long, Funky-Monkey, Funky-Monk, Neuter-nuts, Dingle-berry balls, etc.

Oh, I also sing death metal "Cookie monster" style vocals at the cats, but use their names instead of song lyrics!!

I sing modified Cyndi tunes to my bird. I'm sure we all know the classics, Nelly Changes Everything and Nells Just Wants to Have Fun.

I've got a bunch of nicknames for her (one I can't post on here :p). Lately, I just call her 'budgie' or 'Nelly-o'.

The last time I saw her, if I remember correctly, I called her:

- Summer (her real name)
- Summy
- Summerlumpkins
- Sugar
- Sweetie
- Babii
- dumbass :p
- bitch! (I'm not mean at all, I just belittle her when she does really dumb things! :p )
- Pupper
- HeyYou :P

It's quite a list. :p

golddust...: glad I"m not the only one who modifies songs

I've been reminded that I do call Cwancy things other than Moo. The Moo, Booger, Booger Bun, Bun, Bunny, Wuv, Mooinabox and cute ear.

We'd call my cat Bun Bun! His actual name was Snuggy, but we called him everything but. Bunners, Bunhead, Snugs, Bunny, Huggins (or Guggins, I forget). I call Nelly Nellbox! I thought I was the only one who did the box thing. Not so original after all...

Wow! I thought I was the only one who did the box thing too - people find it so odd, "Why moo..in abox? Did you put her in a box?" Um noo...I just call her that

OMG Bun Bun..that is SO cute....as is bunhead...I love it!

Right now Patches is in heat, So she is back to being "Patches-The Crack-Ho Calico" (Which is my normal nickname for her)

The poor vet must really not like our pets names, Harlen gets to go be "de-nutted" on Wednesday, Know he wont be enjoying that stay.

Cant wait til we take "Fred-Tread", That is one weird & goofy ass cat (He looks almost like his late older brother "Run-Nugget")

i love this thread! and now, i will embarrass myself on it. :o

i regularly say things to my dog like, "look at how cute it is! how did i get such a cute dog?"

or -

"it's my very favourite dog! how did i get so lucky to get my very favourite dog living with me?"

or -

"how much do i love this dog? how MUCH do i love this dog?"

(told you it was embarrassing)

of course, i'm smothering her sweet face with kisses as i say them, in the most ridiculous voice ever. she eats it up.

and she, also, hardly ever hears her real name. i have a few regular nicknames for her: sweet, pumpkin, honey, lovebird, babies, mush, fuzz... plus anything else that just fits the moment.

Well.....I sing to O'Brien, to the tune of "They call the wind Mariah"
O'Brien......O'Brien......I call my cat O'Brien~
I call him O.B. O.B-meier O.Behave....
he likes it when I cup my hands on either side of his face and he looks like hes getting a kitty facelift! he's such a dear, always making bread on me or my blanket or whatever....(gosh I hope he's ok....)

my other cat, Kwan Yin is the Gremlin, or the Gremlin Girl or Gremmie.

Razzmatazz is the Razzle Dazzle Girlie, or Razzy Tazzy or Razzy

I had a cat, Kwai Chang, and I used to sing to him (to the tune of Hong Kong Fooie)
Kwai Chang kittie
number one super cat
Kwai Chang Kittie
they dont come any better than that! (not very original but hey!)

I sing "Islands In The Stream" to my girl cat, Coquie, and she gets excited (or maybe annoyed). Even if she's sleeping, she'll get up and start purring and doing that kneading of claws thing.

I also gave her a last name. One night several years ago, my late partner and I had come home from eating sushi. There must have been beer involved, because we kept calling her various things like "Coquie Maki", etc. Eventually "Coquie Nigiri" stuck, so that's what we wound up calling her from that point on. Now I usually just say "Hey Nigiri".

My boy cat (Rickypt) is the baby and I call him baby even though he is now 7. :xoxo:

Rickypt 10-24-2006 09:38 AM

Oh, and since everyone else is admitting embarrassing stuff, we also used to sing along to the Antiques Roadshow song, but only using the words "Coquie Nigiri".
