Bounty Hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman Arrested

TV bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman has been arrested in Hawaii.

Chapman, star of the A&E reality series Dog the Bounty Hunter was arrested Thursday morning at his home for extradition to Mexico, along with two members of his bounty hunting team. This is in connection with his arrest of fugitive Andrew Luster in 2003, according to TMZ.com.

The heir to the Max Factor cosmetics fortune was convicted of a series of rapes in 2003. The "Dog's" team of bondsmen took Luster into custody on June 18, 2003, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. He was then returned to the U.S. and imprisoned, where he is serving a 124-year term.

Chapman and the two other men, which include his son, were briefly jailed in Mexico for the incident because bounty hunting is considered a crime in the country.

Duane "Dog" Chapman was recently in the news after being sued by 29-year-old Simaile 'Cisco' Lutu in August. Lutu claims the reality TV star mistakenly took him for a bail jumper.

Too bad they didn't arrest his wife for having a Dee Snyder curl and shelf tits.

Damn. This really sucks. Why is bounty hunting illegal in Mexico? Perhaps because they crooked cops down there want the money? I think it's sad we would hand him over.

I can't believe someone is actually being extradited TO Mexico! At first when I read the title of the thread I thought, wow that's really ironic that the bounty hunter got arrested. When I saw what he was arrested for I thought it was really stupid. I know the law is the law, but it boggles my mind that they arrest someone for capturing a rapist.

I was curious about that, too. It's very inconvenient, because everyone flees to Mexico when avoiding the law. It is hella crooked down there. My friend told me a story where the cops made him go to the ATM and give them $500. For no reason. I mean, they just stopped him.

this is so terrible, his wife is very upset too becuz of the way it all went down, she said 12 huge men armed to the gills came charging in~ i heard beth (i think that is her name) on several different programs today & as the day went on she seemed to regain her composure, but when it 1st went down, she was nearly hysterical~ i think it is all so stupid, andrew luster commited & was convicted of some very brutal rapes, how can capturing him be a crime?~

It all depends on whose story you believe. The agent in charge was interviewed on MSNBC and said a family friend gave them access (he said there were only 7 - not 12) to the property and that Beth answered the door - no one broke it down.

As for Mexico - I have lived a mile from the border to Tijuana most of my life. Friends who visit want me to take them down there and that is the only time I go. It's another country and whether we like it or not they have different laws, corrupt police, corrupt politicians and you basically take your life in to your own hands when you cross the border. The Bounty Hunter knew the law concerning Bounty Hunting in Mexico but chose to ignore it - more so for the notoriety in my opinion.

Mexico is SO corrupt. I grew up in the border region - oh the stories.

Not to mention the fact that hundred of women have been kidnapped and brutally murdered (the gov. and/or cops most certainly have something to do with it). It's such a backwards place.

Story:

A dude in journalism dept. in my college went down to Juarez, MX to do a photography project. He didn't come back to class - three weeks later he shows up - says he was driving back across the border and he was rear-ended. He got out of his car, as did the woman who rear-ended him. She started screaming bloody murder -he gets arrested.

Fast forward - his parents go looking for him - they find him in a Mexican jail and have to pay thousands to get him out.

The girl who rear-ended him? A judges daughter - they had a nice little racket going on to get money from Americans. Corrupt.

I can't believe all the times I went down to TJ when I was in High School and College because the bars would serve you if you were breathing. The best thing we did was take an Hispanic friend with us to translate when needed. When I think about it now I'm amazed nothing ever happened to us.

As for the Bounty Hunter I found this part of an article on his arrest rather ironic:

...Charges have been pending against the three since local police in Mexico arrested them shortly after they roped in Luster. They posted bail but never returned to Puerto Vallarta for their court hearing on July 15, 2003, Credic said.
