Any one else really disappointed?

Any one else disappointed as I am with the track list on Stevie's upcoming best of CD? I sincerely hope that will not be the final track list of the CD. I have several versions of every single song listed, why would I want to buy another CD of yet another version of a song. Thats a huge let down, Im sure other people would be able to make a better Best of CD with the songs already out there. I would rather have a remastered Bella Dona, Wild Heart, Rock A little or Buckingham Nicks than a Best of CD like the one that is coming out. I definitely wouldnt buy it, at the most I'll download the tracks if somone happens to post them on a website.

^^ Where's Beauty and the Beast? only the best and most talked about song of her last tour

Whoa, I didn't even know she was releasing a best of CD! Wow, I guess I've been out of the loop for a while now :( Anyway, I agree, I pray that's not the set-in-stone track list....hmm...

SortaSavageLike 09-09-2006 03:56 PM

At least the track list makes more sense than the VBOFM CD that came out in 2002.

Since when did Family Man, No Questions Asked, and Skies the Limit represent the "very best of Fleetwood Mac?"

I swear to God, everything after Hold Me on that set was just pulled out of a hat.

 I can't even listen to the CD after Hold Me.

And yes I am quite disappointed in the Stevie tracklist. (this is the 1st time I've seen it posted anywhere)

disappointed? not really. I mean it is a greatest hits compilation.

disappointed it's not a solo album instead? yeah.

I have to say, I am pleasantly suprised that Long Way to Go made the compilation. Because I love it.
Otherwise the whole release is pretty lame. But the song choices are more interesting than I thought they would be. I'm also glad Crying in the Night is on there.
Buy it? No, not really.

I'd like to stress that this track-listing has not been confirmed, so, really, any nitpicking is a bit premature.

Don't get me wrong -- I'm not saying we can't or shouldn't discuss it. We just need to be mindful of its unconfirmed status.

Not disappointed, just not interested. We already have a Best Of CD and we have a boxed set. I guess this is some kind of contract fulfilling thing?

I think I'd be more excited by something like, I don't know, a reworking of Stevie classics featuring a symphony or something.

RockALittle250 09-09-2006 07:27 PM

I'd rather Stevie release a greatest hits compilation for 2006 and then have her release a really great album w/ new material in 2008 or 2009, then have her release a so-so, hastily put together new album for 2006 just for the sake of releasing an album...so think of it that way :)

I consider the box-set as a serious collectors item/compilation only, because the casual or even often Stevie listener isn't gonna go out and buy that when they can just buy the single disk Timespace...so really, it's been 15 years since Stevie has released a single-disk best of compilation.

She'd better get going!

Yes, but she's only released 2 albums since then. I don't think Blue Denim, MLWCYM, Sorcerer, POTU, and Every Day warrant a new "best of".

I'm not against it, just totally not interested.

EDIT: Unless it results in a scaled-down, intimate venue tour to promote the CD. Then I'm interested.

Well, something that really should be taken into account is the fact that, while we do already have a "best of" CD, it's been 15 years since 'Timespace' was released. It's also been 8 years since 'Enchanted.'

A "best of" released well over a decade ago is basically considered to be obsolete by a record company, and boxed-sets, no matter how reasonably priced, never sell as well as 1-disc compilations.

And while she's only released two studio albums since 'Timespace,' there have been eight singles in that time ("Maybe Love," "Blue Denim," "Twisted," "Reconsider Me," "If You Ever Did Believe," "Every Day," "Planets of the Universe" and "Sorcerer").

Releasing a new "best of" gives the record company a chance to inexpensively shine a light on Stevie's back catalog again: with just a small amount of promotion (most of which will come in the form of reviews and/or ads in the various magazines, like Billboard, People and Rolling Stone), and the set will probably move a few hundred-thousand units while also cross-promoting her old albums.

It's nothing new for the die-hards, but it's smart from a business standpoint.

Do you realize that Stevie will never want to play small venues...she's concentrated on selling out Stadiums:lol:
