Kosmic - Karma - Konnections

I wasn't quite sure what to title this thread, but here is the deal.

I was just listening to Stevie sing Bonnie Raitt's "Circle Dance" from the GD Tour...

and it struck me... from I Can't Wait... "she dances around in a circle...." (not the deepest song ever, but) and "Circle Dance"....

I mean, I'm sure "Circle Dance" has a much more deeper and personal meaning to Stevie as her father was close to passing when she chose to sing it... but I just find it... one of those - I don't know what you call it - serendipity - or deja vu - or isn't it just weird? .... moments (God I sound like Lindsey) that the title is so close to one of her own lyrics and then she connected with it. I mean, there are only so many words and rhymes in the world, but some of them keep coming around again.

I'm sure there are other close "konnections" - if anyone else can think of them... This just struck me as one of those "but I didn't have any idea about the birds" or whatever - things when I wrote it, I just thought it was a beautiful name... that Stevie says about Rhiannon....

I don't know if I am making any sense here, do you get what I'm saying? I'm sure there are other Konnections out there... can you think of any others? Or am I just Krazy? (please don't answer that!)

I don't know what's up with all my "K's" tonight.

I know what you mean, and I love ya, but did you have to use bad spelling in your point? :distress:

The Chain

Uhmm -

How about Stevie writing the words to the Chain way back in 1973 or 1974 or so, and Fleetwood Mac still being together in 2006? :D

Granted that it doesn't really apply if you take a literal interpretation of the lyrics, but still, it's sorta come to be about Fleetwood Mac's "Destiny," their loyalty to the band, etc. They do open every show with it, after all.

Well, to be serious about this "frivolous" subject - there are certain symbols and things that run through everyone's life in weird ways - such as circles, and birds (I'm naming those because I know people who, especially with birds, have had weird things). But also, if most people stop and pay attention, there is a psychic pattern to their lives. I think it's a combination of foresight and self fulfilling prophesy. I've always been pretty awestruck at Stevie's insight/self fulfilling prophesy combo. On one hand, I think she's probably pretty psychic, as far as people go. And those kinds of experiences are pretty much the norm for me and my friends. Not always *necessarily* the big "woo, woo" stories (although I've heard my share of good ones from friends) but just the current and patterns that run through everyday life. A small example is the thing that always happens to me is - I say what my friend was thinking. Whoever the friend is. Or, I won't say something I was thinking, and a minute later my friend will say it. That is small potatoes, but it happens a lot, a very lot. Not just with obvious things that anyone would think of right then, in fact not those things at all. Everything really is connected, it seems so obvious to me. And you don't have to be superpowerpsychic to predict things, you just have to be able to spot patterns to their natural conclusion from what you can currently observe happening.
At the same time, I think Stevie's self fulfilling prophesy powers are very strong. Which is great, it means she accomplished her goals. I mean, she wrote about how her rock and roll life would be far before it was realized. I think with her lyrics et al in that way she has showed both exceptional perseverence, and exceptional insight.

I posted about this before but have you ever thought about Bob Dylan's "Just Like A Woman" and "No Questions Asked"

Dylan:
She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl.

Stevie:
So today she says well I've changed my mind
That's a womans right they say
Well I'm frightened and I'm lost and I
Can't give you up, not now I need you now
I'm broken-hearted, broke down
Like a little girl

And speaking of "Like A Woman" don't forget "Juliet"

Dylan:

Ev'rybody knows
That Baby's got new clothes
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
Have fallen from her curls.

Stevie:

And you try to tie together some connections
You get some ribbons and some bows and get back out on the road again

I wouldn't even suggest that she's ripping him off. I think she just really admires Dylan and gives these little nods to him.
