just wondering......

I was thinking about how my favorite Fleetwood Mac material seems to be stuff that came from Peter Green, and Christine McVie. Christine certainly had a unique perspective because of her timing with the band. She really saw
parts of just about each era.

I was wondering how she worked with Peter. Did she ever go on at any length about Peter in an interview maybe. Was was the atmosphere like at the rock and roll hall of fame between Peter and the others?

Wouldn't it be cool to see Peter and Christine find there way into a recording studio together.

Chris seems to have always loved Peter as a guitarist & composer. In fact, I think she once even said that, before she fell in love with John, she wanted to date Peter. I think in general that Christine lauds Peter for all the reasons his fans do. She adored the original Fleetwood Mac.

She has always talked about how much she admired Peter. She has also said that Peter really loved her blues piano. I have an old U.K. interview in which she mentioned that Peter told her that if she hadn't been married to John, he would have asked her to join Fleetwood Mac. I believe this was sometime around 1969. She has also spoke very sympathetically about what happened to Peter later on.

I think she did have a thing for Peter around that time, as I'm sure alot of women did then. By the way, Peter was the Best Man at the McVie wedding, the only member of Fleetwood Mac to attend their wedding.

Thanks for the replies.

Does anyone know what it was like when Pete joined the reast of Mac at the rock and roll Hall of Fame induction? Was it uncomfortable? Had Lindsey ever met Greeny? Did John and Pete enjoy a big hug?
I think it's fantastic that Pete was there. He sure deserved that accolade.

Just curious.

In response to Tom, I was talking with Peter when they did their first Splinter Group tour in the U.S. and I mentioned the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He laughed and in his humble way told me Nigel and management tricked him into coming over here. They said there were some gigs for him to do and business, but he didn't know about the Hall of Fame. He hinted that he was very thankful for the induction.
As for meeting the other band, there are some bootlegs available where Peter was around for some of the sessions with Lindsey, etc. They all knew and respected each other, so I'm sure it wasn't anything 'new'....just a moment in the sun for them all. I have the Hall of Fame induction on video from VH-1...it's a great moment...and to see Greeny kick off Black Magic with Santana who were inducted the same day!

Bubz, thanx for the info!
I only have the Hall of fame on audio, sounds great though...
I was wondering about those "bootlegs", where Peter is on mac sessions, I have never heard of such a thing, except that he played on "Brown eyes" on Tusk. Is there any more?

Just from what I read. I guess with the Tusk thing is what I remember pretty much. I know I read elsewhere that he was around the sessions, not that he necessairly played on them.

And, he played on the track "Night Watch" on the Penguin album.

Thanks for the story Bubz. And thanks to all for the replies.
It makes a little bit of sense that Peter was "tricked" into the R&R Hall thing, considering how he seemed to feel about that kind of stuff. But I'm sure glad he hung out and was part of it. He sure as hell deserved it.

Does anyone know if the various R&R HOF jams have ever been released on video? I'd really like to see this Greeny/Santana one, as well as others. Someone once sent me a copy of the show where Cream reunited and played.
That's a cool one.

Hey Bubz - did they do "Black Magic Woman" Mac style, or Santana style? And did F Mac also play? I hope you don't mind all the questions, and thanks for the replies.

I saw the induction ceremony on TV, as well. The opening intro of "BMW" was done in a "Greeny" fashion, then Carlos took over and it went into the Abraxas-like version we've become used to hearing on the radio (complete with "Gypsy Queen"). Fleetwood Mac also played...they did "Say You Love Me" (The Dance arrangement), "Big Love" (Lindsey solo) and "Landslide" (Lindsey & Stevie only). Peter didn't play with Fleetwood Mac at all.

That's funny. Greeny didn't play with the band he founded and named. But he played with another band, a song that he wrote - a fact that half the viewers probably weren't aware of.
