PEWWWW! I can smell it all the way back to the 70's.

I think that impish look in Stevie's eyes says it all... she who smelt it, dealt it.

Red 07-08-2006 01:00 PM

Bwah, that's cute!:p

BlackWidow 07-08-2006 01:06 PM

funny stuff...

David 07-08-2006 01:54 PM

that's a great farting photo. Isn't Stevie perfect in it? Perfect era, too. I think--although I'm not totally sure--that Jim Welander shot that picture. Jim is, or was, the god of all fm photographers. I don't know how he did it. You can analyze his work in formalist terms, in terms of framing, composition, plasticity, etc. But even with that you can't quite pinpoint the special magic he had for capturing stevie at her iconic best.

1. What is the secret of Jim's alchemy?
2. Where is Jim today? Dead?
3. Why haven't Jim's photos ever been sold en masse?
4. Why does my foot keep falling asleep?

Holy crap, he did?? You guys used to write? I'm pretty jealous. He was my photographer idol. I would throw out all my other photos if I could just keep Welander's pics. I wish I had more of them. I don't suppose you would want to post those proofs for us?

the way some of you feel about stevie's work--that's the way I feel about jim welander's work.

I don't have the proofs--I had to send them back :sorry: I would kill for them today though!! I was a lot younger when we used to write and pretty broke so I actually didn't buy much from him--oh how I wish I did now though!! I did buy a lot of those b/w shots though........ I wish I would have bought more of the Mirage era pics or Wild Heart..... He sent me a very cool pic of a drawing he did of Stevie--one of the best I've seen in my opinion--I'll have to see if I can scan it and post it--it is pretty cool I think  I've been trying to find him for years now with no luck....... no one seems to know what happened to him??

Really? I had no idea he shot the band on those tours. Oh how I'd love to see those. the only photos of his I've ever seen are all from 1976 shows.

His disappearance is one of the weirder episodes in the annals of Stevie fandom.

Come on, everybody! Let's find Jim!!

Oooo! I like your sig photo  Anyways--yes he did Mirage and others..... there are probably some photos around that you have seen and just didn't realize he took them. I bought a few from him but not many unfortunately..... I think I still have the old catalogs someplace......hmmmm I guess I need to try and dig some of this stuff out. No pics in the catalogs though...... maybe if I have some spare time tomorrow I'll try and dig some stuff up.....
