Whoa! Really???

An 8-Track of RAL??? Are you kidding me? I'm not one to talk, cause I still only have a casette (you remember those dontcha' youngens??? lol) in my car, but RAL on 8-Track in 1986???I was shocked that TISL came out on tape, and a little surprised that SYW did not, but I am REALLY surprised...in case you haven't figured that out yet....that RAL was on 8-Track!

I'm actually old enough to remember 8-tracks.

THINKABOUTIT 07-03-2006 12:01 PM

Hey Anita ;) I actually had a tape player in my car still until last Aug :blob2: ....I would have kept it, but it was dying and no one will install a new tape player in a car today LOL

I love cassettes!! They last longer than cd's...as vhs last longer than dvd's....you drop a fricken dvd or cd and if it gets one small scratch, your' F'd... LOL :blob1: I grew up with LP's....something that is coming back for this new generation to get ahold of and see what they missed out on
My mom had Rumors on 8 track LOL.....I too Anita, have ALL the Mac and Stevie solo albums on tape still!!!! Of course, except for SYW

GarboSpeaks! 07-03-2006 01:16 PM

Yea, I'm old enough to remember 8-Tracks also, just SMART enough to forget about em'....deny all knowledge of owning a player, etc.

As for the tapes Marissa, that's why we click. Old school baby!!!!!! :wavey:

THINKABOUTIT 07-03-2006 01:52 PM

Yep!! OLD SCHOOL!! My mother still has an 8 track player that STILL works!!! it's an old radio, and all the buttons for the tape are on top LOL....

These kids today...some of my students are old school..GOD BLESS THEM!!!! :blob2: :blob1: Having a record in your hands, is so much more meaningful than a CD!!! LOL Don't get me wrong, ipods and itunes and all that crap are cool inventions in several ways, (though I don't yet have an ipod and I could give a **** LOL) but they take away from the album buying/owning experience :woohoo:

I wish they'd make albums with foldout booklets. A lot gets lost in the translation from record to CD. I'm thinking about the really tiny recreations of the Tusk sleeves on the 2004 reissue.

Hate to be the bringer of bad news...

but SYW was indeed released on audio cassette, If you periodically search on eBay you will find copies that are from the Indonesia market (Where plenty of releases are still released on audio cassette).

Actually, RAL is the only mac/stevie album that I haven't updated to CD yet. It is really hard to find in shops. The only Mac albums I have seen in shops are BD, TWH, OSOTM, Timespace, TISL.

Timespace & TISL on vinyl....huh? Are you series? Ok on the Timespace. I have one, but it's got a huge ding in it, when a little tipsy, still playing my record, dropped the needle onto it. UGH! Should come across plentiful copies, I'd be ever so grateful for a better one. But TISL?!?!?!? On vinyl??? Isn't that a myth??

What the...I never said anything about vinyl. *sigh* originally, I had all the Mac/Stevie albums on cassette but over the years have updated to CD (In the case of Rumours and Tusk - 2 disc digitally remasterd CD :D). RAL is the only album I have not updated because it is hard to find in music shops in CD. BD, TWH, OSOTM, Timespace and TISL are widley available but not RAL or Street Angel.

OOps. sorry. Actually after I posted that I re-read it, and kinda figured that out too, but thought, well maybe I'm double wrong. DORK alert here! Gawd, need RAL or SA on cd, name it. They are a dime a dozen in shops around here. Come to think of it, the most I see on CD is OSOTM & TISL. Weird. In the past it was RAL & maybe BD. Still, any used record shop I go to, and even the new ones, RAL is available. What I wish was that RAL and each album thereafter had several pressings. W/ WH & BD, I think I maybe have 3 of each. UK, Japan, etc. WH, I think I have Holland, Japan, UK, USA Columbia House, USA Gold Disc super series...just too many pressing. Sux on the ol' pocketbook, but collectible wise, kicks heiny. lol

Oh, and thanks for this head up. I have NEVER seen SYW foreign or otherwise on Ebay tape form, but will keep my eyes open now. As for Indonesian releases, I always sorta wondered if they were boots. Put onto cassette for the locals (who maybe don't have cd players) and sold to the USA & other markets dumb enough to buy them. Was always just a thought, not a "that's what I thought."

I don't have an iPod yet but would like one. However, the old school part of me says $300 for a toy? I don't think so.
