Call me stupid(Petty question)
What Gloria is Petty singing on this tour b/c I don't remember him singing any song called Gloria. Is he singing the Dead's Gloria, U2's, or Laura Branigan's...oh hopefully not...

You know she comes around here just about midnight, She make me feel so good, Lord, she make me feel all right. And her name is G-L-O-R-I, G-L-O-R-I-A GLORIA G-L-O-R-I-A GLORIA I'm gonna shout it all night GLORIA I'm gonna shout it every day, GLORIA Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. She comes around here just about midnight, ha She make me feel so good, Lord, I wanna say she make me feel all right. Comes a-walkin' down my street, then she comes up to my house, She knock upon my door and then she comes to my room, Yeah an' she make me feel all right, G-L-O-R-I-A GLORIA G-L-O-R-I-A GLORIA I'm gonna shout it all night GLORIA I'm gonna shout it every day GLORIA Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, Looks so good GLORIA All right, feel so good GLORIA All right, yeah now. |

Sara1998 is right. He's been doing it forever. It was the encore of the show I saw in '81. |

p.s. do you guys have an mp3 of the song if you don't mind... |
Another is the I'm a man he's singing...Bo Diddley's?
|
Although I have not heard a performance from this tour, I do believe that the number he is singing is the Bo Diddley song, using the arrangement that the Jeff Beck led Yardbirds played - it was a staple of their live act while Clapton was in the band, but the version you may have heard on the radio was with Jeff Beck on guitar
Not to be confused with the "I'm A Man" made famous by the Spencer Davis Group (w/Stevie Winwood) and also recorded by Chicago |

Gloria's definitely the one by Them (or Van Morrison--it's the same song). It's a classic & the Heartbreakers have played it many times before. Rickie Lee Jones even used the song in her act for her 1984 Magazine tour, with George Hawkins on bass & Vonda Shepherd on backup vocals & keyboards.
