Al Gore's movie about global warming

Just a quick reminder that An Inconvenient Truth comes out in theaters this weekend, and how it does this weekend will most likely affect the attention and exposure it receives, as well as whether it will be picked up and screened at more theaters. So if this is an issue you care about, you may want to find out where it's playing in your area and go see it this weekend! :wavey:

*bump* It shall be Friday soon--opening day! :)

I want to support it very much. But I also don't want to cry through an entire movie, especially if I go with a "friend". Quite a quandry.

It's not opening until next weekend here - but my friend and I are planning on going - but I have Amber's fear that I'm going to end up crying through the whole damn thing - the preview I saw at an opening of Prairie Home Companion last night was bad enough...but I have to see this movie...!

Changing the subject, how did you like "A Prairie Home Companion"? I'm a fan of the radio program and wondering how it translates to film.

Well, I saw An Inconvenient Truth yesterday, and I can't stress enough the importance of everyone seeing this film. It really was amazing--dire, but hopeful as well!

And, I can't stand people who paint Gore and others like him as "alarmists." I'm sorry, but the situation IS alarming. If there were a fire in the room and everyone was just sitting and talking calmly and enjoying some nice appetizers, and one person was running around yelling "FIRE!" and trying to get people to help him put out the fire, would that person be labeled an alarmist by anyone observing this scenario? No, that person would be labeled the only sane person in the room.

Oh, and I want to see Prairie Home Companion too! It looks sort of funny, in the vein of A Mighty Wind or something.

Just saw this!

It was good - not stellar - BUT I'm not an avid listener to the radio show. Now, the people around here who ARE fans of the radio show LOVED it and said that it was very true to the show :D

I was entertained by it, but it wasn't the best film I've seen :o

That's my take on it as well. I enjoyed the performances but the "plot" was rather thin. I agree with the SF Chronicle reviewer that it would have been better if they had just made a documentary about the radio show.
