In need of ideas!
 

Okay, so I have this English project, where I have to film a scene from Romeo And Juliet but with a modern rivalry and in modern english. Catch is, I can't think of that rivalry. So I leave it to you, ledge members. Whats a good rivalry we can use that would also have some humor and appeal to teenagers?

Being 37, I probably have no clue what would be funny and appealing to teenagers, but what about those reality show rivalries, or an American Idol-type thing?

or use that show Yo Mama on MTV. that might work.

really? I don't necessarily love it, but I don't hate it. it makes me laugh sometimes.

Could there be a reference to Stevie and Lindsey? Or would they know who they are? Maybe he could serenade Stevie, have Mick enter the picture, and she could hit one of them upside the head with the tambo? :shrug: I have no idea what I am talking about...everything is S&L related! ;)

How about a message board flamewar or a MySpace love triangle? ;)

I don't understand. Do you mean you need a modern-day analogy to the Tybalt-Romeo rivalry? the Capulet-Montague rivalry?

Capulet-Montegue overall. But we chose Act 3 Scene 1, where Romeo murders Tybalt, so I guess a bit of both. Someone in our group suggested we sub in Mcdonalds for The Capulets and Wendys for The Montegues, and we might be going with that. Its lame, but we don't have much time.

Hmm....how about a crapulant, flashing sendup of the bickery animosity between the Fox "news" "anchors" & their left-leaning analogues on CNN or MSNBC?

Hahaha, well that would actually be a good idea, if this wasn't a regular English class. Our school has two levels: Academic and Honors. They also have a "round down" policy. So anyone who could go either way in course selection goes into academic beacuse maybe their intelligence could rub off on everyone else or something. Because my teacher last year hated me, she put me in the fringe group, so I'm in stupid English. On some goofy project they made us do, one kid seriously asked "Where can I find the author for Romeo and Juliet? On the copyright page?"

So I think that would go over EVERYONES head.
