Soul & R&B of the 1970s--PLEASE HELP
I seem to have misplaced my soul & R&B classics of the '70s. I had about 100 songs!
http://www.funk45.com/scans/brothers...unky_smunk.gif So I need to start a thread devoted to these CLASSIC soul & R&B tunes of the great 1970s in the hopes of amassing the songs I want again. Please post your soul & R&B favorites in this thread. These songs are perfect for jogging, gym, or just tooling down the highway with the top down (which isn't easy in my nonconvertible). So please let's all pitch in & create a soulful groove filled with rhythm, blues & songs that just won't quit!! Let your songs flow with Singasong by Earth Wind & Fire! http://download.yousendit.com/C0AADA815689437C Get Down with Get Down On It by Kool & the Gang! http://download.yousendit.com/F57BA3C32032B910 Yeah you got the Payback, baby! http://download.yousendit.com/0DFA0FCE22DECC4A If You Really Love Me by the Stevie Wondermeister! http://download.yousendit.com/7608E64E1562E0EE The World Is a Ghetto, says WAR! http://download.yousendit.com/D7BF6E2645C39592 Get up & get movin' with Outstanding! http://download.yousendit.com/CE020E9C155F69F0 It's sad what people will do For the Love of Money, warn the O'Jays! http://download.yousendit.com/8049DC4C0AE4EAAB You can look but you cannot touch That Lady, say the Isleys! http://download.yousendit.com/A58465D440432C28 Come & Get Your Love by the American Indian band Redbone! http://download.yousendit.com/33373A0B68FF23CC |
Can't you include Funk, too?
PARLIAMENT!!!! Thanks for sharing those songs. I don't have any classic 70's R&B and soul. I actually don't like much R&B, but I'm sure it was better in the 70's. Edit - those yousendit links aren't working, just a blank screen. Additionally, I tried to yousend something a few minutes ago, and it directed me to a new yousendit site where you have to register even for a free account. |
Of course, I have to mention Midnight Train to Georgia by Gladys Knight & the Pips.
I know these aren't 70s, but I love me some Otis Redding, so I couldn't not post them: That's How Strong My Love Is These Arms of Mine Try a Little Tenderness Pain in My Heart |

I prefer '40s, '50s, & '60s R&B.

anything by Teena Marie...
was she in the 70s or 80s? hell, I don't know, but she was fabulous. |

I always like Smokey Robinson's Being With You and Cruising Together for soul food. I don't know enough about posting links though. Jermaine Jackson's Do What You Do is smooth too (despite my allergy to the Jackson family generally), I think that was in the '70s.
