It's About Time
I finally did it. I registered for my first college class. I went a few months ago to take my placement test. I tested out of reading, tested into college level english, and into pre-algebra. So, that wasnt' bad at all for being out of high school for the past 10 years! So, I went today to schedule my class. 1 class. hahaha... I can only do 1 to start off with to see how it goes. So I started out with English Comp. Easy stuff for me. I hope it goes well, so next semester, I can take maybe 2 or 3 classes. I can only go in the evenings, so 3 will be pushing it, methinks. Anyhow, I start on August 21, and it lasts until December. I will go 1 night a week for 3 hours. I'm excited, yet scared to death. Anyone with any study pointers... let 'em rip! :wavey:

OOooh! Congrats!! that is great - you are going to kick ass. I often wonder how different my college experience would have been had I waited....I kicked ass my last year -did poorly all the others....experience can do wonders...you'll do just fine!
No study pointers...except maybe to stay focused lol...but then again study breaks are good...erm..yeah here's a great study pointer: Don't take any study advice from Deanna :p |

Very cool, Maria.
:xoxo: My study tip is don't wait until the last minute to do assignments and study. I haven't tried it meself, but it seems to be all the rage for people who get better grades than I do. |

Congrats...
and good luck!!!

No pointers- just, good luck! That's exciting.
I was accepted today into an MBA program and will start part-time in a few weeks. School can be nerve-wracking! |
Maria!!!!
Yay! And you know, that's exactly what I did when I went back to school (also 10 years out). I took one class the first semester, then bumped it up to two classes the next. I was afraid I'd be overwhelmed and wouldn't want to continue. By the third semester, I was raring to go. Also, I started out in community college and then eventually moved on to a university and finally graduated May, 2004- now here I am starting grad school in August!. You're going to be GREAT- I am so happy for you!!! :blob2:

Maria, that's awesome. Congratulations and I'm really proud of you for taking this step! My Mom got her Associate's degree when we were little. It took her a long time but she did it and it was such a major accomplishment.
Hayley, you too, congratulations! I really want to go to grad school myself. Unfortunately they pulled the tuition reimbursement benefit right when I was ready to go. :( Someday I'll do it. |
congrats girl! and to Hayley too. that's awesome.
my advice...don't stress too much and enjoy the time as much as you can. it can get overwhelming, but you guys will do great! good luck. |

Just take it slow. And I wouldn't be over concerned with grades. Unless you are going for grad work, most employers only want to see the piece of paper. A, B, or C.... all means the same. One line on a resume.
BA in Fluffyology - State University - So don't get too stressed. Just do your best. Classes are also good for networking. |
Congratulations to both Maria and Hayley--best of luck to you both!
