"Rappaccini's Daughter" with Vincent Price

"Rappaccini's Daughter," the Hawthorne story that Stevie wrote one of her "Say You Will" songs from, was filmed in the early 1960s with Vincent Price. It's available on the MGM Midnite Movies label. It's actually one segment of a trilogy called "Twice Told Tales," & the entire movie is on DVD as a double feature with Roger Corman's "Tales of Terror."

"Running Through The Garden"... it's based on Nathanial Hawthorne's short story, 'Rappaccini's Daughter.'

I thought it would have to be that....

im going to have to have a read of this short story...

Here's a link, Jayne....

'Rappaccini's Daughter'

I've been meaning to read it forever ....

It's not bad...I had to read it for a pop culture paper that I did between low culture and high culture. I, of course, used Stevie's RTTG and Hawthorne's Rappaccini's Daughter. For Hawthorne, it's very good...not quite as bland as his other works.

^ when I finally read it, I was struck by how literally faithful Stevie's lyrics were. Though I guess it's not a particularly complex tale, I still expected Stevie to have wafted away from the theme.

Thanks for the link, David. I had never read it before, but I'm glad I did now. Very interesting.
