Don't Stop being used by Rotorua, NZ City Council
http://www.dailypost.co.nz/storyprin...toryID=3679669
Thinking about tomorrow with lyrics from the 70s 07.04.2006 By Rebecca Devine Fleetwoon Mac probably didn't have a 10-year district plan in mind when they wrote Don't Stop, but the Rotorua District Council thinks there's something in the lyrics. The council is using the words of the band's song in a bid to get residents interested in what's planned for the district over the next 10 years. Lyrics from the 1970s hit Don't Stop have become the theme for the council's new 10-year plan and it's hoped they'll strike a chord with residents. The council wants to ensure people "don't stop thinking about tomorrow, don't stop, it'll soon be here". Self-confessed Fleetwood Mac fan, council communications manager Rex Moore came up with the idea. While some people might think Abba's Money Money Money more appropriate, he said he thought Fleetwood Mac's message was just right. It was hoped the catchphrase "Don't Stop" would encourage more people to give their opinion on the council's budget for the coming decade. The lyrics are used throughout the document and in radio advertising although Mr Moore said the latter was not accompanied by the music because "Fleetwood Mac would charge us too much". This week the council started delivering more than 30,000 summaries of its new draft plan to households around the district. People have until May 5 to make submissions which will then be considered by the council. The plan signals an overall rates rise of 5 per cent across the district, although rates on some properties will increase by less and others by more. |

with all this talk of FM songs being used and some being heartbroken over it...let me offer this -
Call Me by Blondie is used in a Swiffer commercial. um, k. I, personally, don't care about an artist's songs being used. I think it's pretty cool. Now, if Stand Back were being used for a Beano or Gas-X commercial, I'd be a little miffed. |

I believe Call Me was used for E-Trade commercials. |

I saw that commercial & immediately thought of you. I thought, "If Diss were dead, he'd be rolling in his grave." It is horrendous. It's bad enough Dream On & GYOW have been used in car commericals. But a great song used for cleaning products? Ew. |

Lol
I read the subject line wrong. I was like "don't stop being used by..." Why am I being used by a New Zealand City Council?
I need a nap. Mark and Spencer! I love that place. Bought a pair of boots there back in 2003 and wore them today when I went to get a new pair of glasses (2 new pair, actually). Think I got my mom a purse there too and she's carrying it right now too. :) |
yeah, you know how sort of dreamy that music is...well, they had the chocolate pudding and it's sauce all oozing out at the appropriate moment..hahahahaha...ahhh M+S a good old British institution..like Sears for you I guess.

(Yes, I know it's not a Blondie original, but it might as well be) PS, Diss I figured you'd appreciate this--as soon as I found out Blondie was touring this summer, I e-mailed each bandmember and told them I wouldn't be satisfied unless their set included Angels on the Balcony, War Child, Slow Motion, and yes--Little Caesar. |
Hee!
