Should Lindsey Remake "Grievous Angel"

If Lindsey were to remake the "Grievous Angel" album, who should be his Emmylou Harris?

I vote for Rickie Lee Jones. It could be an amazing remake, with Lindsey's delicate shadings
& fingerpicking, & Rickie Lee's wistful vocal distancing.

That might be a beautiful vocal combo.
I don't know if I think he should remake it, but I would vote for Caitlin Cary, only because she is so skillful at harmony, and she has a sweet voice that breaks your heart.

That's a great idea, David, remaking GA.
Rickie Lee is a great choice too.
What could be interesting is a combination with Patti Smith. To make it more dark and "grungy".

Maybe he could do a sort of pomo take on it, Gerald! Give it that poststructural edge that you find in Coen Brothers & Tarantino, but balance that against the traditionalist lushness & tinkly windchimes you get in Zhang Yimou, mixed with Cocteau surrealism if Lindsey's a mind to.

I was hoping this thread would bring Steve MacDougall by because he's the biggest Grievous Angel fan in these parts. The link to FM is that Tom Petty was inspired by Grievous Angel when he wrote & recorded Insider with Stevie Nicks, who was a member of FM for a long time. (although she currently is not a member)

Apart from me that is! It's one of my favourite ever albums.
I don't like the idea of Lindsey covering Grievous Angel though. I don't think his heart is country enough these days.

Should Lindsey Remake "Grievous Angel?"

No.

Anymore questions?

I'm a big Gram Parsons/ Emmylous Harris fan so I'm quite happy with the original, why remake it?

haha, me three... first thing I thought when I read this:
Please Don't.

how about a new album? I can dream, can't I...

Instead of recording an entire album of someone's else's work, I think Lindsey should take a tip from Bob Welch and do his OWN version of His Fleetwood Mac Years & Beyond:

Monday Morning
Second Hand News
Walk A Thin Line
Bwana
Trouble
Shadow Of The West
Empire State
Goodbye Angel
Loving Cup
On The Wrong Side
Down Endless Street
Soul Drifter
Down On Rodeo
Gift Of Screws
Gotta Get Away
Oh Well, Parts 1 & 2
(can you just image what Lindsey'd do with Part 2?)

This is a really cool idea. A focus on the songs from say, Go Insane through Tango, which all had their music shaped by the technology of the time period, would be a intersting listen now that Buckingham as stated that his guitar playing is his center. Of course those statements were so long ago, by now his center is playing a speak and spell piano with his 3 year old.

God what a great idea.
I love Rickie Lee and see her often at Largo here in LA.
She is such a treasure.

Another option would be to have Gary Louris and Mark Olson do the harmony.

I take it that this Grievous Angel is a country album?

Which can lead to another fresh chapter of Mr B's mindblowing musical experimentation.

It's an album by Gram Parsons, who was in The Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers. You should check it out, it's one of THE great country rock albums.

I, once again, think it's a bad idea to try and cover such a perfect album.
